Will you have a car or other means of transportation? Two days can be easily filled with a day devoted to a visit to Salzburg, less than a half hour's drive from Traunreut and a second day devoted to touring King Ludwig's stunning castle Herrenchiemsee which replicates Versailles, located in Chiemsee lake. Another option might be a visit to Berchtesgaden and spectacular Alpine views. All are within close proximity to Traunreut. Consider Berchtesgaden only if you have a crystal clear day with no overcast

All is not lost! You can still visit Salzburg, Herrenchiemsee or, for that matter, Munich all by train or bus and train. Check the German national railways website and you'll find schedules, costs and itineraries in English. Go to:
http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query/exe/en
for information.
