Transfer from LHR to Trafalgar

This forum has been so helpful I am going to continue to pick your brains !

We are traveling with an elderly parent and need to transfer from Heathrow Terminal 1 (United flight ) to our hotel near Trafalgar Square (Club Quarters). Arrival is mid-day. Is the Heathrow Express user friendly , and should we take a taxi from Paddington to hotel ? Taxi from the airport would be pretty expensive.

We have to arrange transfer from hotel to Harwich for cruise later in the week but that's another story.

Thanks for your help.

Definitely book a car service, cheaper than just picking up a taxi at the airport and much easier. www.justairports.com will give you an online quote. We always use them and have had no issues, they are highly recommended here.

Another vote for a car service. It makes thisngs so much easier when travelling with an elder.

Definitely NOT Heathrow Express - it's an expensive way to get to the wrong side of London for where you want to get to, with a further taxi ride to pay for. A door-to-door car service would be cheaper.

For the sake of completeness, by tube there's a simple change at Hammersmith to the eastbound District Line (a few steps across the platform) to Embankment, and then take the Villiers St exit, turn left and walk round and up Northumberland Avenue. But at Embankment tube there will be some steps as well as escalators.

Thanks for the good advice.
Will try to find a vendor who can help all of the transfers: LHR-hotel, hotel-Harwich, and Harwich-LHR . Looking at Just Airports as well as Freedom Service. There are so many.
