If anybody read my previous message Granada to Seville...thanks for that info, I needed it too. But I meant to ask if there is a bus/train from Granada to BARCELONA? It's about 11-14 hours. Is there one at night? How much is it? Thanks for your help!!!!!

The reference library of a city near you my tave the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Table 666 has the trains. The Gibralfaro leaves Granada nightly at 2145 and reaches Barcelona Sants at 1010. In US dollars second class single fares are 42 dollars, and then you add twenty for a berth in a 6-berth couchette car or fifty for a bed in a 3-berth sleeper.

On many days you can leave at 0818 or 0833 on the Garcia Lorca, with buffet car, and reach Barcelona at 2045, but that makes a long day.

Please write if I can help further.

Ben Nines, London

Trains are reaily available for this route. Train info is available on www.renfe.es.

Don't know what your other travel plans are, but to save time I would recommend taking a sleeper train for this journey. If you can afford a first class ticket, opt for the AVE train, as this is the Spanish equivalent to France's TGV or Germany's ICE trains.
I took an overnight train from Granada to Barcelona in August. It's definitely an overnight trip. Everyone's advice here is accurate. There is no AVE except from Madrid to Sevilla. One thing to note: a problem I had in Spain was that while I had a 1st class rail ticket, the trains did not always have first class cars. So while I paid for 1st class, I had to sleep in the 6 to a compartment couchette. It was not fun. Be careful of this. Also, don't expect to get much sleep. Have fun!
It seems that for $42 plus $50 to be in a three berth sleeper (total $92), it seems more worthwhile to fly. I'm planning to go from Barcelona to Granada, and was thinking of driving. However, I checked out the flight and it is one hour, twenty minutes and costs $153. Unless it's a particularly pretty drive, it seems that flying could be a good option.
