Traffic fine one year later! What to do?

Actually not.
I park every week close to the trainstation and know where to park for free but I was later and no parking slot available. Left me with going to the parking of Brussels south station, price is 36 € per day or so.
So I parked in the street for 2 days and got a fine of 25 €.
Poland, I wasn't sure it was forbidden to park there but didn't care, was tired and wanted to be close to my hotel.

You weren't because the rental company doesn't collect ticket fees. The rental company charges a fee (30-40€) for having to provide your information to the police. The police then turn it over to their collections people and you are mailed a letter to pay your ticket and the amount (they can take a year to get it to you).
