Top Tapas Tascas

http://elpais.com/elpais/2017/06/16/...32_624097.html

This is a list of 40 tapas places in Madrid from El Pais in English. We have eaten in two of them and they were excellent.

Bocaíto

Another classic in Chueca. A rustic tavern with traditional Castilian and Andalusian fare, including fried eggs, fried fish, and smoked fish canapes.

Libertad, 6. +34 915 21 53 31.

Celso y Manolo

A contemporary tavern with a marble bar and a creative menu. It’s a charming place, that will win you over with its eggs served in a frying pan and its tomatoes.

Libertad, 1. +34 915 31 80 79.

Do you share the ones you like on Maribel's Guides or keep them to yourselves?

The ones in Chueca are fairly close to Retiro. And to tell you the truth, I have never spent much time east of Retiro.

And there were others northwest of Retiro.

Are you specially looking for some in Salamanca?

thanks..,
I was just surprised the article did not mentined other locations.
Perhaps they focused on parts of Madrid frequented by most tourists.

East of Retiro is a nice residential area
with several good bars and restaurants.

There are a few decent places of note north of the Retiro, but generally, the Retiro is currently the best area for great tapas and small plates. And thankfully, it's not tourist central! There is almost nothing east of the Retiro of interest at this time.

The last one they metion is my favourite tapas bar in all Madrid, no fuss Casa Revuelta. They serve a battered cod tapa to die for and delicious chipirones en su tinta as well as a few other goodies:

We had a great evening at La Catapa a few years ago.

Also , at a Galician restaurant ( cannot remember the name ) a bit further east.

They are keeping the English speakers out of some bars.

Ah! maribel guides - they were wonderful. We used them maybe 5-7 years ago. Are they still available? We'll be in Andalusia and Madrid this winter.
