time in getwick
Does anyone have any suggestions for passing a few hours in Getwick, i.e., a short tour or spot to visit? I'm arrivng at Heathrow and flying out of Getwick eight hours later. This seems like more than enough time for the transfer but not enough to go into London.

If your bags aren't checked through you have to wait for them a LHR 30 - 60 minutes) and then catch the coach which can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours to get to LGW depending on traffic. Then you have the 2+ hour advance check-in requirements at LGW.

Bottom line - just get to Gatwick and relax. Lots of shopping and places to eat. Or if you belong to any of the airline clubs take advantage of their services.

Hi, There are a lot of shops both landside and airside of both terminals ( connected by an automatic train -every 2 or so minutes journey timw 2 minutes)
On the South Terminal on the spectators gallery there is a Heral turboprop airliner that you can go in , a Comet flightdeck as well as a coffeshop and the observation galleries looking over the airfield.
Having collected your baggage and gotten to Gatwick will take a good 2 hours minimum and after you check in you can relax. Prior to the 11 th September BA did allow through check in but no longer.
