This search engine sucks

I tried searching for threads related to beer and got no hits. Then I tried "beer" and "Germany". Still nothing. Then I tried "drinking" and got none. Finally I tried just the word "the" and still nothing. This search mode is useless.

Well, the search engine has been iffy but I think at the moment it's even worse than usual due to some technical glitch that's posting people's responses in the wrong forums. Try again later is my recommendation.

it doesn't work at all. I tried searching just for the word "paris" and it claimed there were no hits. Yeah, sure. It was defective for a while and only searching the post titles instead of the entire text, but now it's apparently not working at all.

I usually have better luck with the topic search. I just click on the country that I posted under and it weeds out the other country postings. It's not infallible, but it oftentimes works pretty well. However, I wish the text search worked!!!!

Patricia

...and vera cruz, and belgium don't exist either...can this be the end of the world as we know it?
Actually, I did email Fodors tech support earlier today and advised them of the wierd stuff going on in here, as well as the searchless search engine...you guys might want to do the same?

Gee... it works for me. They musta just fixed it.
I had done a search of "Salzburg/Austria" a little while ago and got a nice selection of threads - just what I was looking for. When I saw this subject, I did the "beer/Germany" search and out popped the first 50 posts (admittedly, rather slowly).

I tried to find a message I answered the previous day by scrolling, but it must have moved down a fair way, so I decided to use the search engine. It found loads of hits for "Palermo" - all but the one I'd answered the previous day. Must have gone down a black hole or something.

I've tried searching this site before for posts I had seen one week prior with no success. I would try every possible format and get no results. Glad to know others are having the same problem. The ability to search the site is pretty important to finding help so I hope they fix this.
