Hey, pannuci and social worker! I'm a mental health professional too. Maybe we could start a clinic for Fodor's addicts. But who wants to be cured? :-)

bobthenavigator Jul 24th, 2004 09:08 AM

Hmmm ! I majored in Psych--can I help?

Marilyn Jul 24th, 2004 09:21 AM

LOL, Bob, so did I, about 300 years ago!

jck4 Jul 24th, 2004 09:58 AM

I am a Physical Therapist - and i prescribe lots of travel to stay fit (mentally and physically)

panucci Jul 24th, 2004 12:13 PM

This is beginning to make sense.

Scarlett Jul 24th, 2004 01:27 PM

Oh Boy! I can imagine the fun a therapist would have reading some of these posts..the ones where posters are attacked or some wax poetic about their own wardrobes :)

socialworker Jul 24th, 2004 02:10 PM

Well Scarlett, now that you mention it, I *have* occasionally wondered at what motivates some of the people who post what appear to be nasty responses to others' queries or comments.....

Shrink Jul 24th, 2004 02:12 PM

OK folks -- you cant start this little online travel therapy thing without me. Maybe we can figure out a cure for PTSD (Post Travel State Depression).

panucci Jul 24th, 2004 03:31 PM

Isn't the cure starting to plan the next trip? As well as posting a trip report and oganizing your journal and pictures.

Countrymouse Jul 25th, 2004 09:47 AM

DeAr fellow sufferers,
Came back from my trip to York (York England by the way francophile03 not NY (worse luck!)( no offence meant to Yorkists it's a great place but not quite the 'big apple'!), and Ive only been back 30 minutes and I'm on here again! Not an internet cafe in sight!
couldn't wait to see what I'd been missing in my absence.Quite an interesting debate by all accounts!Panucci you are quite right it is therapy and a reunion sounds great. Betsy's idea of a clinic is sound as long as it's somewhere hot with internet access so we don't miss out on fodors (Oops that rather defeats the object somewhat I suppose but what the hey!). It strikes me that there a heck of a lot of health professionals 'tuning in' definately a case of 'physician heal thyself'. Golly what hope have all us poor 'lay persons' (notice that I'm becoming very PC so as not to intice a tirade from any critics out there!) if you lot have gone over to the dark side!
Coming back feels like coming home so it cant be bad for you (can it?).
By the way there will be a slight delay to my trip report on York as I'm off again at 6am tomorrow to Leicester, but perhaps I could do a 'two centre' jobbie when I come back!
Off now to see how the other postings are doing.
KEEP ON FODORISING!
LUV CM

francophile03 Jul 25th, 2004 10:05 AM

A new word: fodorising

Good word!

socialworker Jul 25th, 2004 10:09 AM

Yes a good word, esp with the British spelling--sort of gives it a little extra panache!!

mrwunrfl Jul 25th, 2004 11:00 AM

panucci, for you addiction sufferers (not me) admitting the problem is the beginning of the cure.

for me, denial IS a river in Egypt (been there, seen it)

Countrymouse Jul 27th, 2004 10:23 PM

Methinks thow dost protest to much mrwunrfl! If you're here your obviously hooked! In that case call me Cleopatra! (wasnt she the queen of de nile?! The old jokes are still the best!).
Happy fodorising
CM

bevzy Jul 28th, 2004 05:26 AM

I'd like to know of another site as addictive as this one-for a change now and again. Not necessarily travel!

gracieb Jul 28th, 2004 06:01 AM

I'm with you, Bevzy. I at least need a distraction!

Excuse me, can anyone tell me where the closest Fodorite 12 step program would be for me?

carolyn Jul 28th, 2004 06:08 AM

bevsy, Readers Paradise Forum on glyphs.com/forums does it for me. Books and travel--who cares if the house doesn't get cleaned?

SoBeTraveller Jul 28th, 2004 06:09 AM

... something for people with nothing to do to do. Harmless.

suze Jul 28th, 2004 06:11 AM

Thorn Tree on Lonely Planet is pretty good too. That's the one that got me started with all this.

panucci Jul 28th, 2004 10:06 AM

I think we are just adding to the problem, but I'll check out the other sites. If my family doesn't see the Fodors.com logo maybe they'll think I'm starting to have this under control?
