Tech Help Please

I use IE and 2 days ago all of my "favorites" that have been adding within the last month have disappeared. I've lost all of my Italy/Rome favorites, as well as my hotel links. I'm afraid that this may be a symptom of a larger problem.

Any ideas?

I hope it isn't related to your low carb diet!

Hi MizzEve,

Is your "Favorites" folder still there?

Open "Windows Explorer", click on "find", "files" and type in "Favorites". It should be in "Windows". Click the icon and it will open to give you a list.

Also look in your "recycle bin" to see if they were accidentally trashed.

Hope this helps.

PS Do you back up your files?

Hi Ira. My favorites icon is still there. All of the favorites that I added prior to 1 mo. ago are still there. Just the favorites added in the last month are gone. They aren't in the trash bin either. Very strange.

Hi Mizz,

Sorry I can't do more.

Perhaps you can get on line help from Microsoft.

Did you make any major changes to your computer recently?

MizzEve, it's a mystery to me--nutrinos.

Here, however, is a good site (someone lost all their URLs). You may be able to recover some of your Italian sites here.

If you have a new version of Windows such as XP there is a function which will return your computer to previous settings. If you have this you can go back three days and whatever was there then should reappear.

MizzEve:
You need to save your "favorites" so if this happens again you can retrieve it.
To save it click on My Favorites at the top of your screen. In the bottom right corner of the window that appears is the Save/Replace icon. Click on it. It will give you 3 choices. Click on Save My Favorite Places as a Favorites File On My Computer. Type in a file name on the window that appears. Voila! You have just saved your Favorite Places.
