Stockholm-Tallinn-Helsinki-Stockholm

Hello!
I am going to be in the Stockholm area for 10 days (late May to early June). Most of my time will be spent in Stockholm, but I was hoping to take an overnight ferry (or shorter boat ride?) to spend some time in Tallinn (maybe a night or two?) and Helsinki (maybe just for a day)-it could go Helsinki, then Tallinn, if that makes more sense. Then, I need to head back to Stockholm (my flight home is out of Stockholm). Please help me think of the most logical and economical way to do this. Would midweek make the most sense? Is it most inexpensive to book roundtrip or would booking each individual boat/ferry trip cost about the same? I have looked at Tallink Silja's website to get some sense of this, but still wanted advice in case there are some tips you could give me.

Also-I will definitely be spending at least 6-7 days in Stockholm, but if it comes down to just doing Tallinn OR Helsinki, I am most interested in Tallinn.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!
Margaret

We did this trip last summer. Landed in Helsinki, overnight ferry to St Petes and back to Helsinki, ferry to Tallinn, 2 nights Tallinn and then overnight ferry to Stockholm.

Thought it worked out really well. I would definitely recommend two nights in Tallinn. We loved this little town.

Maybe you can take the overnight ferry from Stockholm and arrive in Helsinki for the day. You can leave your luggage at the lockers at the ferry station while you see the city. Spend the day in Helsinki and then take the late ferry over to Tallinn for the night. Spend next day or two in Tallinn and then take the overnight ferry back to Stockholm.

Be sure to check the locations of the ferry terminals as there are at least two in Helsinki. A cheap taxi ride between the two though.

Can you manage enough time to add Riga? Much more interesting than Tallinn, I thought (and certainly than Helsinki), and if you are in any way a fan of Art Nouveau not to be missed.

For me, Tallinn is a great small town.

But I agree, we loved Riga and enjoyed much more than Helsinki.
