Spain Cities - number of nights?

Next summer I will be traveling to the following cities:

Barcelona
Zaragoza
San Sabatian
Burgos
Segovia
Toledo
Madrid

I think I am set on 5 nights in Barcelona and Madrid. How about some suggestions on number of nights to stay and MUST see sights!

thanks!

You can see a lot in Barcelona in 4 days (5 nights). I would add an extra day there.

Since we have no idea of what your interests are, it's rather difficult to make any suggestions that mean anything. Your travel dates would also be useful.

My dates are next June (mid month) through July (mid month). I am a history teacher so I tend to like the historical sites, but am open to anything fun, interesting, and out of the ordinary.

thanks!

I would do 5 nights in Barcelona alone. You can do Toledo and Segovia as day trips from Madrid. I suggest that you spend 4-5 nights in Madrid and do those two towns as day trips. I haven't been to the other places you have listed, so I can't comment.

Do you have a limit of days for this trip?

Burgos, 2 nights. Segovia and Toledo can be done easily as day trips from Madrid, but I know many people say its beneficial to stay overnight .

Of the places you list, I have only been to the last 3. Given your interest in history, you might want to consider 1 full day in Segovia, 2 full days in Toledo, and maybe 2 or 3 days in Madrid. (Go up to at least 4 days in Madrid if you want to see its incredible art museums.)

And with an interest in history, I would recommend the guide books by Fodor's, Frommer's, The Rough Guide, and perhaps the National Geographic Traveller.

Enjoy!

<<How about some suggestions on number of nights to stay and MUST see sights!>>

How about stating your interests and doing some research on readily available websites and travel resources? Entirely certain that Fodors has extensive entries on Madrid and Barcelona.

<<Barcelona, San Sebasatian and Madrid 5 nights. Zaragoza one and the rest 2.>>

Two nights in Segovia is far more than necessary - you can see the whole town in a matter of hours. Toledo doesn't need more than a night.

I've been to all the cities you listed and there is no way I would do Toledo and Segovia as day trips if time is not a factor. I am also surprised that you left Seville out. So, my advice would be to go back to the draft board and fit in Seville.

Program into your itinerary a "down-time". Towards the middle you WILL get a saturation point of architecture and history and cities, so it is important to also program in a "breather". SAN SEBASTIAN can meet that requirement.

As a side note A/C will become a MUST have, so make sure you will have it.

Viajero2, thanks for your thoughts! Seville will be in my next trip to Spain. If you noticed my route it is mostly East, North and Central. I want to do south of Madrid in another trip. As for A/C, I am already all over that one! Also, you are right on about the "down time" I did a month in Italy a few years back and the "down time" was a must!

Now that I read that you have plenty of time may be you could allocate three or four nights to Burgos. a city in the Camino de Santiago that has so much to offer

Among other things ,the Catheral, which contains a wealth of art plus The Tumb of el CID and Doña Ximena, the Anazing Monasterio de Las Huelgas, a beautiful building who se Museum has the original remains of clothing and jewelery from a knight 's tomb from the Middle Ages,
this is so unique, only because of weather conditions these objects have survived the passage of time.
actually only one tomb survived Napolron's soldiers .
The Cartuja de Miraflores found es in the XV century , with the altar piece of Gil de Siloe recently resto red.
Nearby you can visit the Monasterio de Silos for a so juran with masters of Gregorian Chant, do Not miss Mass in their church. it is Not Far from Burgos.
It cloister is beautiful.
i really enjoy staying there the fact it is Not a must for tourist made my stay even more enjoyable.
i love the hotel called................(forgot the name , I will post it later) what made it si special was that it had a set menú both lunch and dinner that was superb for a very inexpensuive set price. ut was excellent and included Toro wine , ....delicious.
Many ,mny locals had lunch and dinner in the hotel. buena suerte.

In case you are interest the hotel in Burgos I recomend in my previously is Hotel Boutique Fermín González"

We stayed in there a few years back, as I said the restaurant was excellent also the buffet breakfast however maybe things have changed , dinner and lunch were an incredible bargain.

I am writting from my iPad I noticed some unvoluntary mistakes sorry about that.

San Sebastian is the best! Definitely take a beach day (if it is warm enough) and during the night, walk through the old part and eat pintxos! Even just walking around the city and getting a feel for the taste of the architecture (you're in Spain duh!) is pretty amazing.

You might want to consider cutting Segovia to 1 night and cutting Toledo to 2 nights and adding 2 nights (2 days) in Salamanca. Just a thought....

Yes,that is the problem
....there are so many lovely cities, towns ,......in Spain,
Kia has a point Salamanca is an exciting destination, the problem with Toledo for instance is that it such a touristic place, also I would chooser Burgos or Salamanca any time versus Segovia and even Toledo....I also like Leon.....
