I regret to inform you that, unless there are more stupid replies, this thread will not qualify. <BR><BR>Barring stupid replies pertaining to the subject matter, a good tangent could help this thread, or some serious and totally uncalled for bashing and ranting and raving between posters. <BR><BR>

The point is, it is unfair to sterotype people....don't you get it. I don't think it is a stupid post. People write in "are European women skinnier, are the French rude, Do the spanish respect women. " DUH! Of course some are some arent, some do, most don''t. I think the point is that if you travel you will learn to discard some of your predudices. But maybe not, considering the quality of poster on this forum.

And viva la difference! <BR><BR>Of course, individuals are individuals all over the world, and we are all deserving of respect. But cultures are not the same, and people make up those cultures, creating them, perpetuating them, and being shaped by them.<BR><BR>These differences are not just in the type of food eaten, music, or language spoken. They include world-view, values, expectations, and many other elements of thinking and behavior. <BR><BR>So, most people who travel from country to country or are exposed to people from different nations (or who study history, international relations, political science, anthropology, etc.) note these differences and often make general statements to try to describe them. <BR><BR>And, you mentioned a specific that irks you, the thread on why Europeans are thinner. This is not speculation. This is a fact, supported by overwhelming statistics. Do you think the percentage of overweight people in America is purely coincidental and has nothing to do with our culture and lifestlye? <BR><BR>Observe and you will see Europeans are starting to gain weight also, and I'm sure there are statistics to back that up. The US is just way ahead, as usual. <BR><BR>Rather than denying it exists, it is important to try to figure out what is causing this "clustering" of overweight in America and to try to figure out what can be done about it. Obviously, not every American is overweight. But you'd have to be dense not to see what is happening in America. And that is just one example, brought up by Candy (interesting name, by the way....)<BR><BR>So, get off your PC high horses and open your eyes. You might actually learn something!
