SmartWings.net

Has anyone flown or have knowledge of Smartwings.net? I am looking to fly from Prague to Amsterdam in mid May 05. Currently, you can only book a flight through March 05 on the website. Recently, they eliminated some flights (Vienna for one) and I would like to have the PRG to AMS flight booked before I book my departure and return from the U.S. How long will it be until I am able to book my May flight? Is this a viable airline that will be around until May 05? Are departures reliable or as reliable as airline departures can be? Is there a baggage weight limitation? Any other information that can be passed on would be appreciated. Thanks.

Frankly, if the website doesn't provide the information, at least about baggage and weight limitations, I might be a little concerned. I assume you have checked out www.whichbudget.com and this is the only viable low-cost flight option between those two cities?

I've been anxiously checking the site, too, regarding the same flight for April and even called the other day to find out if this flight would be in service. I was told that the timetable would be updated by 12/15, but I checked it last night, and it was updated. The flight times aren't that great (for me, anyway).

Thanks Sheryl. Could you give me the phone number to reach Smartwings. I didn't know there was one available.

I have flights booked for later this winter. Baggage limits are 20 Kg, one checked bag and 5 kg carryon, which is the same carryon limit as Easyjet. I would like to know how strictly they enforce that very low threshold.

Be careful. SmartWings is apt to cancel your flights on a whim, and although you will get a refund, you may not be able to find comparable airfares for replacement flights. Read the narratives in the link provided by Jocelyn P. I will certainly never book with SmartWings again.

I too had a reservation AMS tp PRG roundtrip cancelled several months after it was made and had to rebook on CSA at a much higher rate. Like another person's post, earlier lower fares might have been available at CSA. The only good part of this is that I will not be limited to the ridiculously low 5KG carry on limit. One never knows how strictly budget airlines enforce that but it is certainly lower than reasonable.
