Sixt Rental Cars

Has anyone ever rented a car from Sixt Rental Car company in Eurpoe? They are based in Germany. I booked a car through Economy Car Rentals. They booked the rental through Sixt and I hope they are reliable.

Anyone with any experience with them would be appreciated.

Sixt is one of the biggies in Europe, along with Europcar, Hertz and Avis. I have always found them to be just fine.

All the cars I've rented have been relatively new, so I never had an issue with reliability.

My husband worked in Germany for 6 years and rented exclusively from Sixt. he had great service, great cars and nothing but good things to say about them.

I used Sixt a few years ago and had no problem. I have used Hertz the past 3 years as their rate has been better then any competitor. That is for a pick up in Switzerland and drop off in Italy.

Sixt is a major operator. Nothing to worry about.

Yup, Sixt are very well known in Europe. I use them exclusively when I travel on business. Much better than Europcar who we had before IMO. For some reason I seem to get quite frequent upgrades with Sixt as well.

Upgrades are all a matter of fidelity. I continually go to the same Europcar agency in Paris with my subcompact category A AutoEurope voucher (2 or 3 times a month), and they will pretty much give me any car I want because they know me. Of course, usually I really do want the cheapest and smallest car -- a Smart if possible -- but the last time I was doing a lot of kilometers, they gave me an Alfa Romeo.

Thanks everyone for some great information. I rented through Economy Car Rentals out of Greece and they quoted me a price of 188euro for 8 days with everything included (insurance, etc.) That was the for the compact VW golf, etc. That was the best price I could find.

I've read the fine print but don't understand about the cancellation fee after a "revocation" date. What might that mean?

Underhill, Not sure what that means. I don't find it on my agreement from Economy Car Rentals.

Underhill, not having your policy in front of me I can't be certain, but I would guess that a cancellation fee after a revocation date means that if you cancel the car reservation a certain number of days prior to the actual rental date you will be charged a cancellation fee. Does that make sense?

Yes. I wish Sixt had a toll-free number I could call to inquire!

FYI, I just got a VW Passat class car through Sixt in Nice for under $300. We would have paid $460 at Autoeurope.

In 2009 we'll be renting an economy car in Avignon and dropping off in Nice, is there a rental company better priced than another in that area. Last year we rented from Gemut when we went to Germany, they seem to be in that area but I'm not sure for France which car company would be the most economical.

I'm trying to rent in Germany next week through Economy Car Rentals. It gave me a peugeot or alfa romeo or similar. Would this be booked through Sixt?

Thanks.

I rented a car through Economy Car Rentals in June for Portugal.
They placed me with Sixt.
I would use them again.
