Single Skier

Just wondering where a good overall value for a single skier might be in Europe. I'm an advanced skier but am at ease skiing either black diamonds or cruisers to relax and take in the scenery. I don't much care either way about the apres-ski whether its hopping or quiet, just want good skiing cheap. I have some frequent flier tickets I need to use so all I'll need are lift tickets and accomodations. Thanks.

Paul, everywhere in Europe is great to ski as a single! If you're looking JUST for skiing, I'd recommend St.Anton Austria where you could find a cheap Bed & Breakfast, or book a chalet room through an English tour operator such as Inghams (I don't have their web address). You might also try Chamonix, France. Another alternative is to find a cheap place in Innsbruck and ski the areas surrounding the town (Ichgl, Axamur Lixum, etc.) Another alternative is Alpine Adventures in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl that can book you a great deal to Courmayeur, Italy and will room you with other singles. Overall, I'd stick with the larger resorts that have more diverse accommodations. You'll probably be charged a single supplement at most places.

If you want the best skiing in the Alps you only have the choice of two places: Val D'Isere & Tignes or the 3 Valley Region (Val Thorens-Courchavel). These are the best most extensive areas in the alps, the most modern lift systems, and the shortest queues. You can live in apartments, which are in the snow unlike in Switzerland where you havfe to walk all the time to the lifts. I am a ski fanatic and for me Val D'Isere is the best resort, but my favourite run is the Schindlerkar in St. Anton.

First of all: ZERMATT is Switzerland not Italy! <BR>Paul, my favoured place ist the "OBERINNTAL" in Austria. You have inexpensive places like SERFAUS, FENDELS, NAUDERS or SAMNAUN in Switzerland. You need only one skipass. To reach go by train from anywhre to LANDECK/Austria. Take a bus to all places. Meet me there in February 2nd week.
