Sicily vs Crete vs Puglia
For a trip in April: We are going crazy trying to decide. Had planned on Provence in May or June, but had to move trip up, so looking for warmer place. All three are places that seem to offer exactly what we would enjoy. I have already read so much about each place (including trip reports) and they all look fantastic, so would like some personal opinions and experiences, especially if you have been to two or more of the places.
We love the cultures of Italy, Spain and Turkey. We don't enjoy hiking, though a long walk to see something interesting or to a place to eat with a great view is fine. We do like walking on beaches. We like archeological sites, interesting architecture and interesting walking areas in cities and towns. Example: loved Agrigento and also all the old towns and cities in Andalucia area of Spain. Also love the AC and being on the water, as long as it isn't too cold to sit out. Food: simple and fresh (salads, stews & soups & pastas) nothing fancy. We plan to rent a car.
We have been to Sicily, but only for two days and really saw only Agrigento. We loved what little we saw and would love to go back.
We have not been to Crete, but it looks very pretty (perhaps a bit like the AC?) and seems to be reasonable cost and easier driving.
Puglia looks really interesting also with lots & lots of things to see, and we have not been there.
The weather looks to be about the same in all three places, though a bit more chance of wind/rain in Sicily and Crete.
Based on that, which would you suggest? Which did your prefer and why? Thanks so much for taking time to think about it and respond.
