I hear from alot of people that the showers in France are not attached to the wall like showers in the U.S. How in the world does one shower when your holding the shower head in one hand and trying to wash with the other? Any suggestions or comments on this?Thanks... Kim

The majority have a hook or other attachment - - even slides up and down to accomodate your height, quite nice actually - - that holds it up to the wall.<BR><BR>Maybe not with a shower on a hose that is part of a bathtub. You just adjust, even if you must hold it. If both of your hands are functional it shouldn't be a p[roblem, if not, you can request a room adapted for handicapped. An advantage of a hand-held shower is you can shower UP as well as down, so you can clean places not effectively cleaned by the traditional american shower. that's why wash cloths are less needed in Europe! the floor will get wet, but if the hotel doesn't mind, neither should you. Just be careful not to slip on the wet floor.

Like most Europeans, I have a shower which will detach from the wall. I use it as others have said to wash up as well as down. I also detach it to wash my hair and have sometimes wondered how Americans manage to wash their hair. Do they have to stand under the shower? I've read somewhere that shampoo can irritate the more delicate parts of the body.

I am amazed that so many people have such difficulties figuring out the shower technique for hand held showers!<BR>And I though it was hard to figure out computers!<BR>Many many people in the US have hand- held showers, they hook onto the wall, and work exactly the way a shower does, except you can take it off the hook and spray away holding it in your hand!<BR>The ones that are not hooked on, work this way-you get into the tub, stand there and hold the shower nozzle in your hand, hose yourself off, put it down, soap yourself up, pick up the shower,hose yourself off, take the shampoo,shampoo your hair, pick up the nozzle, hose your head/self off.<BR>when you take a regular shower with the nozzle attached to the wall, the shampoo does the same thing, it runs down your back and down the drain, no difference when you hold it in your hand.Shampoo is just mild soap,it wont hurt your skin! you do have skin on your head under your hair anyway.<BR>Hope this helps .

this issue is not how to wash with a hand held shower-head but how to do it without getting water all over the place since most EU baths have no doors or curtains. I found that having to watch which way you turned or stood every second so as to not soak the floor took some getting used to. The best way I discovered was to just sit in the bathtub, holding the shower attachment, that seemed to help keep the floor dryer.

As our Paris hotel had no shower curtain and the bathroom floor got soaked, we wiped up the floor with towels.Upon asking the management why there was no curtain , we were told that it is cheaper to wash towels than to change mildew shower curtains.

I think most Europeans sit in the tub while washing..with or without a hand heldd shower.

I have always wondered how Americans can wash their arse and private parts when they can't bring the shower head close enough to wash these parts properly. They must be a very dirty people. And maybe that's the reason Americans don't have much sex.

I have never experienced any of these problems on any of my many trips to Europe. You people are either trolls or stayed in dumps!

I read in a medical<BR>questions page in a newspaper a query from somebody who had severe genital itching. They were asked if they washed their hair in the shower because that can be a cause. That bit of you is much more delicate than your head.

There will always be someone with skin too delicate for ordinary soap or shampoo, but who has trouble with the shampoo getting between their lets????? It runs down your back usually, if you stand with your back to the shower and the water hits the top of your head?<BR>Anyway, for those who have this problem, they should take a bath and wash their hair in a sink.

In Europe they are called hand held showers, in America they are called hand held viberators. You do end up cleaner in Europe though, even cleaner "lets".
