showering

We have a 3 1/2 hour layover at Amsterdam (Schipol) anybody ever use the Mecure Hotel shower facility? Will we have enough time for a quickie?

Lily

I was thinking along the same lines, but since I'm not familiar with Schipol I wasn't sure where to recommend for a quickie.

Poor Lily. If you were looking for a real answer, I know three of the above posters and they are very nice gals just having a bit of fun. And anyone named TravelNut has to be a good person as well. Please don't be offended.

If I had 3 1/2 hours I would hop a train and go into Amsterdam for a fast look around. Perhaps you have already been to Amsterdam and would rather have a quickie.......

well, actually now that you mention it that would be fun too!

Actually, we have a layover in the middle of 21 hours of flying and I just know a shower would feel good....and um well I'm sure the other will too! Happy New Year all!

I just read this thread to my husband and he is rolling. Now he is getting future air travel ideas.

You're a good sport, Lily. And, I hope you get an honest answer soon.

LOL!!!

The Serious Answer:
You can shower in Schiphol in the Departure Lounge near Gate E. The site with a map is http://content.schiphol.nl/info/plat...rzieningen.htm

I presume you have the facts and are looking for the experience.. I would email or call and make sure they have plenty of 'walk-up' availability, or see if you can reserve a shower room for a specific time during your break.

www.schiphol.nl
If you are transferring at Schiphol and have enough transit time, then a shower is going to provide you with a welcome and refreshing break.
The showers are located in Hotel Mercure on the first floor of Lounge 3.
Hotel Mercure is located in the passenger area beyond security and is therefore only accessible by (transferring and departing) passengers.
The hotel is open 24 hours a day, so you can go there any time you like.
The cost of using a shower amounts to EUR 12.50 (including towels, soap and shampoo).
More information?
