Should we buy Accademia Gallery and Uffizi tickets in advance?
We would like to visit these museums while in Florence in September. Do you recommend purchasing tickets in advance? If so, what companies are most reputable?
Thank you!
Thank you!

I was there last week and what I did was go directly to the Uffizi at 9A - there is an office there for tickets. You go in and can either take the next available time (which may be in 3 hours or tomorrow morning) or a time that meets your schedule. There is a 3 euro charge for the this.
FYI - Ask the guard at the front of line where you go to buy a scheduled tix - he'll point you right inside to the tix office. There will be no line. The others in line are waiting to get in without an appointment or are waiting in the other line for their appointment time.
Depending on the time you go, after or before stroll over for a snack at I Fratellini for a panini and glass of wine for 5 euros. Tell them WebVisionItaly sent you!:

Yes I definitely recommend this. If you are staying at a hotel or B&B while in Florence, if you request this, many times the hotel will make the reservation for you. You would still need to pick up the tickets yourself.

I don't think I would risk the show up and get them unless it's a slow time of the year. We wound up in Florence during a "festival" and the Uffizi was sold out for the next few days. Your only option was to wait.
I did get mine in advance and was glad I did. We spent several hours there and when we left we saw one woman who we had met in Florence who had been in line the entire time we were in the museum!

Our hotel made reservations for us at the Uffizi and Accademia for no charge. When we got to the museums, we didn't claim our reservations because the lines were short.
I might add that the Bargello was our favorite museum in Florence.

Thank you everyone! Unfortunately, we are staying in a villa about 30 minutes from Florence. So no concierge to call upon! But, I will type "Uffizi tickets" and see what other discussions there have been on the subject. And Happy Trails, I will check out the Bargello as well.
Thank you again!

If you're not staying at a hotel that can book for you, the best thing is to call the gallery directly -- +39 055 294883. The operators speak excellent English and can book you for both in about 2 minutes.
If you use one of the commercial Web sites, you're going to pay a stiff premium.

Ditto, Ditto 99 and ira.
I thought I could do it online (follow the fodors destination links for Florence to find the museum websites) but there were limited selections and I thought the Uffizi was completely sold out. The operator completed everything I wanted beautifully.
