Sex museums in Berlin & Amsterdam??

Well, I'll be spending a day in Berlin and 2 days in Amsterdam. was wondering should I visit the sex museum at both places? Or the one in Berlin (the biggest one apparently), or the one in Amsterdam (the more interesting one apparently).

Which one was more interesting/worth the visit in your opinion?

Here's another vote for the Sex Museum in Amsterdam. We've actually been there twice! It's a lot of fun, for just a couple of Euros.

Some of the displays are kind of hokey, and maybe there's a few you might find are crude, but the museum does provide an overall history of sex spanning thousands of years. There are several floors to explore, with different themed rooms. I found the exhibit on the history of pornography very interesting. Be sure to have your picture taken sitting in/on the penis chair.

The Sex Museum is located on the Damrak, which is a touristy/commercial area just off of Centraal Station. My husband mentioned to me the other day that the next time we're in Amsterdam (hopefully this October), he wants to check out the Erotic Museum, which is in the Red Light District. Does anyone have any opinions on the Erotic Museum?

Enjoy your time in Amsterdam (and Berlin). Peace, Robyn >-

I visited one of the 'erotic' museums in Amsterdam in/near the RLD. It was a hoot. But if you are expecting anything truly risque, you will be hugely disappointed.

The Berlin one, of course. Anyone knows that with sex museums, SIZE matters.

bigger sex museum just means more boring exhibits of engorged statues, lame erotic paintings, and unsexy devices....and more annoying tourists (equally split between giggling types out for an 'edgy' thrill and just as annoying serious types out to prove their 'openmindedness').

i've been to about 3 (quite some time ago)...definitely amsterdam, i think berlin...maybe prague? not sure, they all blended together and none were worth a stop.

save your money and just visit a large sex shop like beate uhse. that will also get boring rather quickly...about as unerotic as the sex museums but at least free and a bit more real (eg working 'kino kabines', etc).

I've been to the one in Amsterdam and it was fun to walk in and out of. Nothing especially interesting, but we were in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit one.

Has it changed all that much?

Alecki, your whirlwind tour of Europe is becoming ever more interesting.

Borrowing from George Burns: The air used to be cleaner and the sex was dirtier. Just kidding

So right you are, Ira. However, thanks to the invention of plastic, I would imagine some of those Roman "sex toys" they had on display have definately been improved upon.
