Seaside hotel between Cassis and St. Tropez

I am looking for a base town for exploring area between between Cassis and St. Tropez in October. Preferably, we would like to find a conveniently located seaside hotel. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I think you'd find Le Lavandou would meet your needs quite nicely. There's an excellent beach and a number of hotels from which to choose.

Besides staying down at Le Lavandou you could also base yourselves up in the charming village of Bormes-les-Mimosas, about a 5-minute drive from the coast. We stayed at the Mirage and found it quite comfortable, with a very nice pool. Most of the rooms have balconies or terraces and fine views.

The Mirage looks quite good, thanks. Since you've traveled there, let me make one step further into planning. We plan to stay there 3-4 days, after another four days in Proivence. What places between Cassis and St. Tropez (and north too)you would suggest for day trips.

The town of Hyères is quite interesting; nice old section, with good little shops along the way. Offshore are the lovely Iles d'Hyères.

Not too far afield is the town of Fréjus, with quite a selection of Roman ruins.

You could take the beautiful drive along the cost to St-Tropez, but be sure to leave early in the morning--the traffic can be fierce, as there's only one road into and out of the town.

How about Cassis, is it worth a visit?

Sure--nice little fishing village, with nearby fine vineyards. If you have time, you can take a boat ride out to the famous calanques.

Or you can hike to Calanque d'En-Vau from Cassis. I hear it's the most beautiful of all the calanques. That's what I'm doing next month.
