SCAVI tour -- Never Received Auto Reply

Hello,

I emailed the Excavation office to request the SCAVI tour a few days ago and I never received the "Auto Reply" confirming receipt of my email. (used a gmail address)

Should I email them again?

If I fax my request, will they respond via fax? I don't have a fax machine at home any more (who does) and I'd have to go to Kinkos. I don't want to risk E-faxing them.

Has anyone here been successful getting the Tour without having been sent an auto-reply from their system?

Thanks!

Did you check your spam folder? What e-mail address did you use for the Scavi office?

Yes nothing in Spam folder.

I emailed it to both:

[email protected]
[email protected]

Today I sent the same email (noting it was a duplicate) from a different gmail address, and still nothing.

According to forums on Tripadvisor (started last week) people are at least getting auto-replies. I'm getting nothing. Isn't that weird?

I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Are the addresses correct?

E-Mail: [email protected]

Try a different e-mail account? I've never had any problems with my gmail and the Scavi office.

I'm trying to think of what other email account would be appropriate. I've read that AOL doesn't work, hotmail is now Outlook and it's "new" so I'm not sure I trust that.

I've also never had any issues with Gmail either. I really don't know.

I almost wonder if its my ISP?

It seems to me if I'm not getting an auto-response, then my emails just aren't getting through at all.

Would you suggest that I call and see if they received the emails so I don't annoy them with further email attempts? I don't speak any Italian =(

I think my guess on my ISP is probably right.

Here is a TA thread on the Vatican server blocking certain emails from certain ISP

http://www.tripadvisor.com.my/ShowTo...ity_Lazio.html

I bet that's what it is---otherwise no response via gmail?

I will try to send it again using plain old 3G on my iPhone and see what happens.

I could cry. Just sent it w/my iPhone via 3G and still no auto response.

My husband is going to try sending it tomorrow from work from a different account and see if that will work.

That will be our last attempt =(

Can you use your business/work e-mail? Or try gmail from your office since it would be a different ISP.

I wouldn't expect a response (even auto) during hours they are closed or weekends.

I hadn't considered that I would not get an auto response during off hours. I simply thought that their server would just send an automated response and the business hours wouldn't matter.

Has anyone had success faxing their request in?

I googled it and only in one instance saw success, but the person was unclear how they got confirmation or whether they got a "receipt" back.

Call to see if they received the emails? It's only been a few days. I thought I'd call next week but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't bother to look it up.

My husband just emailed from another gmail account and a yahoo account from his work (so different ISP). No auto-response.

I wonder if their server is down?

If anyone has (in the past few days) received an auto-response could you let me know? Thanks!

<<<I wonder if their server is down?>>>

Maybe it was turned off?

*This is just a 'shot in the dark'* but I wonder if the Scavi office workers were pulled to help with the Conclave?

Not to help in any type of major roles but perhaps in some minor roles?

The logistics of pulling this event off would need planning down to very minor details, people calling vendors, transportation, housing, a hotline for the 160+ Cardinal's minor personal questions (medical, diet restrictions, etc) etc, etc.

This has to be an 'all hands on deck' time and something minor like the Scavi Tour might be a very low priority?

They would be swamped with requests when they returned so perhaps just shutting-down the system is easier?
