ryanair destinations??
Why can I fly from Paris but not to paris on Ryan Air? I want to fly from Rome to Paris, but can only get to Brussels or London Stansted? What gives. The website gives me the option of leaving from Paris-- this really makes no sense to me, but I've noticed other small carriers in Europe do the same thing.

Did you look at their route map? This shows all their routes -- you won't find a Paris-Rome or Rome-Paris route listed at Ryanair. The only routes I see going to Rome depart from either London or Brussels, and the only flights I see going to Paris depart from either Scotland or Ireland.

Brussels to Paris is only 90 minutes by train, so that should not deter you from a low-cost airline that flies into Brussels.

And there are two choices that are probably both better than Ryanair for routes from Italy to Brussels: SN-Brussels (now available on www.europebyair.com by the way) and www.virgin-express.com - - more convenient, and for that reason, probably a better value, whatever the absolute airfare costs.

For what it's worth, it isn't just the "other small carrier" that use a "hub" system. You can't fly Paris-Rome (non-stop) on BA, KLM, Aer Lingus, Iberia or Lufthansa - - nor on Delta, American or United.

Best wishes,

Rex

Not sure why this was topped as the question was answered. Namely, one cannot fly on Ryanair between Paris & Rome, or vice versa, without being routed through (and change planes and go way out of the way and waste lots and lots of time and spend extra money) London, Brussels, Glasgow, Dublin or Shannon. It actually seems rather straightforward on ryanair.com. What more do you want to know? If you're really asking about other flight alternatives then try opodo.com.
