Ryanair.com or Easyjet.com

Hi,

I will be in Paris for a few weeks and am thinking about going to another city for a few days. What I want to know is has anyone booked tickets through the websites of www.ryanair.com or www.easyjet.com? Did it work out? Are ryanair and easyjet reputable airlines?

Thanks,
Kathy
We flew Ryanair from Rome to London in June and it was fine. The plane was a 737, the staff was very nice, departed and arrived on time. I booked the fare on the website for an unbelievable $19 per person! Check the website often for specials.
Pam B.
My sister-in-law in England says Easyjet is very good. I think she flew them from London to Nice. They sound like Jet Blue here.

We live here in Germany, and Ryanair is used very frequently by the Americans in this area. My parents, friends and even my husband and I have flown with them. They are fine, but two words of caution. They are very serious about weight restrictions for both checked and carry-on bags, so be prepared to redistribute your luggage among your bags if you're not sure about the weight. Also, they use smaller airports (usually retired military bases), so it can take a while to get into the city you're aiming for. We flew to Oslo in April and it took almost twice as long to get into the city as it did to fly from Frankfurt, and the bus cost more than twice the cost of the flight. I just booked my sisters on a flight to London using BA even though the flight with Ryanair would have been cheaper. Once I calculated the cost and time involved in getting into downtown it was cheaper with BA. Don't let me discourage you though. I would use them again, but I just wouldn't assume it was going to save me money. Have a great trip!

easyJet is a fantastic airline. I've flown them between Amsterdam and London Luton, and London Luton and Paris CDG. If you book early enough the fares are dirt cheap (I paid $25 including taxes for each of the one way trips). easyJet uses modern 737 aircraft. The only caveat is that they often use less congested and less central airports (a la Southwest). That said, Luton, for example, is only about 10 minutes further by train from central London than is Gatwick. I can't speak for Ryanair, but as far as I know, they are a good budget carrier as well.

Hi

they both deliver what they promise, but maybe a little late.

The choice if cheap carriers depends on routes.

Check here for route / cost details from 15 low cost carriers :http://aerfares.net

And Air Lib / Air France are offering low cost Paris - Languedoc flights too.

I'm flying Languedoc - Stansted with Ryanair tomorrow for euro 40 return inc taxes.

Peter
http://tlp.netfirms.com
Hi, We have flown Easyjet 4 or 5 times over the last year. No problems - love them. Will definitely use them repeatedly.

Only praise for both easyjet and ryanair. For easyjet, the fares are lowest the earlier you book. With ryanair, this is also true except that they also sometimes have sales.

Hi, Kathy,

Flew Easyjet in September and thought their service was fine. They are on the Southwest system in theory (boarding by groups of numbers based on check-in time), but there was no discipline around this when we actually boarded.

Also, note the baggage restrictions in particular. If you are flying as part of an international trip where you have more than a modest amount of luggage, you could be surcharged. (Hopefully others can comment on this). So, read on their website and/or e-mail them regarding any concerns about this.

Also, as others have noted, routes covered by these two airlines are different, so look to see where each goes.

Happy travels.

John

My son is studying in London this fall and has used easyjet for weekend getaways during the past few weeks to both Paris and Amsterdam - has had nothing but praise to report about the service - as I nervous Mom I've kept an eye on arrival info via their website when he's traveling and his flights have all either arrived right on time or a bit before schedule!

Used Easyjet many times, they are as good or better than full price airlines.
Found their planes keep better time than KLM-UK.
Booked via website, no probs.Remember you dont get a ticket, just a reservation number, also no seat numbers are ever issued, just sit wherever.
Never used Ryanair, but I've heard you have to be in plenty of time for the flight or risk being "bumped", otherwise ok.
At the moment Ryanair are giving flights to many places free.(airport tax only)

Hi Kathy,

We have used Ryanair and EasyJet several times. Most flights were booked in advance from the U.S. before departing for Europe using their respective WEB sites. A couple of spur of the moment bookings (walk up service).

Had zero problems with bookings and subsequent flights.

However, we did encounter a delay in getting our luggage on two Ryanair flights (several hours to get bags). It appears at the time they were changing bag handling service providers and the 'kinks' were not worked out. I assume this was a 'point in time' issue.

Would use either carrier in the future.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your replies. Well now that they both got rave reviews I will definitely use them. Now its just a matter of deciding where to go.

Since they both do such a great job it surprises me that they are not mentioned more often on this forum.

Thanks again,
Kathy
One note--easyjet is NOTHING like JetBlue. I like easyjet because they're cheap and fly the routes I want, but it's a discount airline. Jet Blue has leather seats, satellite TVs, good food, etc., etc.
