Mark, In 1988 we drove through Normandy, Brittany and Western Loire. In Rouen we stayed at Hotel Morand, 1, rue Morand, $36.00. Mont St. Michel at Le Relais du Roy, $43.00. Tours, Hotel Mirabeau, $58.00. Angers, Royal Hotel, $31.00. Pleneuf Val Andre, Hotel de la mer, $75.00. Try not to miss Honfleur (charming town) and Blois (Michelangelo museum).

Any information on Hotel Morand as to location in Rouen. Which sites are close by? Is this on the right bank-near the Cathedral area? I can't seem to find any info on this.

Recommend Chateau d'Argouges in Bayeux. Rate in fall 2001 was well under $100 for a large double room. Housed in a converted manor house; described well in Karen Brown's Inns & Itineraries - France.

Stll looking for info on Hotel Morand or any other hotel in Rouen on the right bank. Do not want a 'chain' hotel. We'll stay in Bayeux for a few days after staying in Rouen & so that's why I'm interesting in hearing from someone on Rouen.

Last year I stayed in Rouen at Hotel La Cathedrale, across from the side entrance to the cathredal. We found it on the internet through the Rouen Tourist Office, (I think!) and it was absolutely charming. I can't remember the exact price (but will look it up for you if you are interested) but know it was well under $100 Cdn because we never pay that much for hotels in France

Norma

Stayed at Auberge du val au cesne in May 2001 for 2 nights.

Lovely little auberge with comfortable and charming rooms, on a small quiet road near Yvetot.

The wonderful fresh breakfast could be served outside in the garden.

The restaurant was also very good, though there was no choice, it was a case of eating the menu of the day.

http://www.hotels-tradition.com/valaucesne/

Kavey
