We will be staying in Rome in May for three nights. I found a B&B on via flaminia (City Area:Flaminio Parioli).
Franco and all other Rome experts, is this location o.k? We love to walk and this B&B looks real nice. It has received great reviews. Thanks!

The Flaminio Parioli area is pretty far north. I suggest you find out how far you are from the stuff you want to see in Rome to decide whether your B&B is good enough to justify the time you'll spend getting to your destinations.

Find out the exact route and timing needed to get to the center of Rome. Lots of times these places say something like "only 15 minutes to central Rome", when that's far from the case in reality.

We got caught with accommodation in Rome that looked to be JUST out of the Trastavere region, but it ended up being lots further than first thought. It could take us up to an hour to get into the city if traffic was heavy. I would never do that again, no matter how good the accommodation as we spent ages on buses/trams etc which was wasted time. I would really recommend finding something closer, especially as 3 nights isn't that long.

I totally agree with cathies...Rome is huge and literally packed for at least 14 hours a day. There are lots of things to visit and see, so if you don't want to waste your time, I strongly recommend to book an accommodation closer to the old town centre: nearby Piazza del Popolo, Trastevere, Porta Pia or even San Pietro. In this way you won't need (specially if you love walking) any bus, train or underground.
You might spend a little bit more, but it's definitely worth it!

Hi Daphne, just want to say that if you want to economise and be closer to the action, my suggestion would be to rent an apartment. We did this last year with my father and it worked so well. It was huge, 2 bathrooms, private, air conditioned and surrounded by lots of great local cafes and restaurants (also 5 minutes from The Vatican, the colonnade we could see from our front door). It was much cheaper than a B&B or hotel. Since we hardly spent any time there, the money we saved was spent on other goodies!

I agree with other posters that this location is far out from (north of) most of the major places you will want to see.
Even if you love to walk, you should save your walking time for the central historic district. With only three nights in Rome you will have only two full days which is very little time

Are you looking at the Abacus B & B? That is what popped up for me with a google search. It does look like a beautiful spot but still would not be my choice for a short stay in Rome

Can you tells us the name of the B&B?

Via Flaminia is a pretty long street. If you were staying near the southern end near Piazza del Popolo, it might be a good choice. From there you'd have easy access to the metro at the Flaminio station.

If you were at the northern end, there's a tram or bus you could take to get to the center, but this might become tiresome after a day or two.

Thank you for your posts. The B&B is Suites Piazza del Popolo located at
Via Flaminia 215. It's very highly rated on Tripadvisor.com. We stayed at the Hotel Mozart 3 years ago but they have gotten rather pricey since then. This is a pre-cruise booking and we do not necessarily have to be in the middle of things. However, we have just started looking. There is another B&B which sounds lovely and it is located "heart of Trastevere" according to sleepinitaly.com.

From GoogleMaps it seems to be about halfway down Via Flaminia. Some would consider this too far. To me it depends on the price versus how nice. As far as distance goes, this might be as inconvenient to some as staying near Termini, but the neighborhood would be nicer.
