Rome

Looking for a 4 star hotel in Rome for 5 nights in October -- price about $350.00. Has anyone been to a wonderful hotel recently that they would recommend?

Karen: I'm booking now for the 2nd week in October. The Hotel Bernini Bristol(4 stars in Star Service-the travel agents guide) got a great review and although they have rooms for much higher, I was quoted @300 for a double deluxe room. Star also gives a pretty good review to DeLaVille Intercontinental near the Spanish Steps and the Hassler. They're quoting about $329.00. It's rated a 4 star also. Hope that helps.

Linda, thanks for your recommendations. I'll do a little research of my own on them, but they sound like what we're looking for. It's always nice to have a recommendation from someone who has stayed at a hotel recently so I'm hoping for some additional posts. Hope you have a wonderful time in Oct.

Karen,

Last year we stayed at the Crown Plaza Minerva. The first room we had was quite small (which isn't unusual), but then the girl at the front desk changed us to a larger room. I can't say the hotel had "charm", but the location is great - right near the Pantheon. Don't bother with the hotel breakfast. It was expensive, but on our first morning there we didn't realize how close we were to all the little cafes around the Pantheon - lots of "atmosphere" and people watching to be done there. We are going back to Rome this fall, and would have stayed there again, except there are no rooms available. We now have reservations at the D'Ingleterre, which is also supposed to be very nice.

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza Minerva for four nights. The hotel is fantastic. It is a five star hotel and has all the accomodations of a 5 star hotel which is nice after being in smaller but charming hotels in Venice and Florence. It is a in the heart of everything. We easily walked to the Pantheon, Piazza Novana, Campo d'fiore, and the Trevi Fountain. We also walked to the spanish steps and st. Peters. We paid $325 a night and booked through the Crowne Plaza website which I think is www.basshotels.com. They may have a deal on that you can get a better rate since it is a crowne plaza.
