Restaurant recommendations needed

I need recommendations for restaurants in the following places: Llandudno, Lake District, Chester, Liverpool, York, Yorkshire Dales, Windsor, Stratford upon Avon, Dover and Canterbury. Moderately priced. Do I need reservations? Will be traveling in the month of August.

IN Grasmere(in the Lakes District) I highly reccommend Michaels Nook- it is a manor house that also has a 1 star Michelin rest. in it open to the public-reservations are necessary-nouvelle cuisine(ie.small portions) BUT multiple courses-you will NOT walk away hungrey- if duck is on the menu,it is great!
In CHester, the Chester Grosvsner hotel has 2 restaurants- the Bisro -which has a fixxed price of 25 lb for 2 -a 3 course dinner and it was wonderful. They also have a 2 star Michelin rest.in the hotel (I forgot the name but they have a website and email at [email protected]--You will need reservations at all the above hotels but you can do it when you check into your hotel --no need to call ahead except for the fancy one at the Chester Grosvner and you can email them directly for reservation.

Reservations in August - very good idea!

Michael's Nook and Chester Grosvenor are expensive. Have stayed at/eaten in the former - very good.

Caveat - have not used either of the following, but have seen them! Both are at the high end of moderate (£80 a night ish).

Lake District. Would have liked to try Swinside Lodge near Keswick (http://www.swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk), but they don't allow smokers! It's in a VERY secluded spot. Good reputation for food.

Dales. There is a very pleasantly situated small guest house called Helm (www.helmyorkshire.com). Attracted by location more than reputation for food.

we loved our stay at MILLER HOWE in windermere, beautiful room and excellent food and service. They have some great 2 and 3 nigh "breaks", from 65 pounds per person , includes breakfast, tea and dinner, even includes Buck's Fizz ( orange juice and champagne) at the bottom of the staicase if you want to start your day off with a buzz. Excellent staff and service, the most beautiful view, www.millerhowe.com

In the Yorkshire dales we loved the devonshire Arms, first rate everything , and centrally located on the grounds of Bolton Abbey.
http://www.s-h-systems.co.uk/hotels/devonshire.html

Both restaurants are open to non-residents.
