Renting a Car in Italy

Someone just told me that if you are going to rent a car in Italy and you are over 65, you need (or should have) a letter from you physician stating that you are fit to drive. True or False?

It's been many years since I was 65 and have rented cars several times since then.

I don't know if that answers your True or False question...

Hi Coniglietto, my husband was never asked for a letter of verification from his doctor.

But I would think the agency you are renting your car from would be able to answer your question.

My husband loves to work out so a few year ago we searched out gyms in Italy. We found a few and the requirment was that he needed a doctors permit to "exercise" in Italy!!

In our case, we knew a few doctors and one of them knew Italian and they faxed over the Perscription to work out.

As it turned out there was not one person who asked for this doctument.

How does this relate to renting a car..... ignore the 65 and older, or if you want to work out at a palestra, ignore that also.

Just rent go and have a great time.

We are renting with Kemwel and I specifically asked this question and was told it is not an issue in Italy. It might be with other companies, though.
