my rd: that is so funny about Giada's head. I had never noticed and was talking to my nephew a few weeks ago and HE mentioned how big her head was so last Saturday I was watching her to check it out and you and he are right!!!! LOL

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 01:46 PM

Thanks for the laugh, Bonnie. Yes, everyday is "special" for Ina :)

Jocelyn_P Oct 4th, 2005 01:48 PM

LOL Clairedelune...you must mean Tyler Florence!

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 01:49 PM

Tyler used to have that "Rescue 911" show where he'd go to someone's house and help save their meal. I watched...for a bit.

Alajan Oct 4th, 2005 01:49 PM

You made me curious so I checked him out. Good grief, you guys were so right - she is trophy wife of rich guy.

But, it is not right to dismiss her because she is skinny, perhaps artificially enhanced, pretty, and rich, However, the set is awful, the food is unappetizing and she obviously cannot cook. Nor do I know anyone who would admit to taking the short cuts she does.

Viva Ina and Paula - fat chicks with hard work, determination and successful businesses on their resumes.

clairdelune - tyler florence is a babe and he can actually cook IMHO, but the flirting after awhile between he and his co-host on "Boil Water," or he and the clueless cook on Food 911, or he and whomever he encounters on every one of his gazillion shows makes me want to lose my appetite which, I reckon, isn't a good thing for a cooking show.

StCirq Oct 4th, 2005 01:53 PM

Thanks, Catbert!

I think Tyler Florence is adorable, but that's because my son looks exactly like him :)

This thread is making me miss Two Fat Ladies :(

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 01:54 PM

Ah, the Two Fat Ladies...yes they were good. I especially enjoyed when they would squabble. :D

Madison Oct 4th, 2005 01:54 PM

This is what annoys me. Sandra Lee's husband is very wealthy and she is working and making a fortune. Let the network give her job to someone that needs the money and let her spend her time either going to culinary school or doing charity work. The rich can never be rich enough.

I don't dislike her I just think her recipes suck big time.

clairdelune Oct 4th, 2005 02:00 PM

I saw the Two Fat Ladies one time-they were making some sort of meat pie. I really couldn't figure out what they were doing. What type of food did they do? Was it stuff you wanted to eat or was it just entertaining watching them?

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 02:00 PM

That's just it...they are not really recipies when you use ingredients that are already prepared by someone else. For Sandra Lee, it's all about the pantry of canned or processed goods - not fresh foods.

StCirq Oct 4th, 2005 02:06 PM

The Two Fat Ladies rarely made anything I'd put in my mouth - kind of the British equivalent of Paula Deen's fare, with loads of streaky bacon. But they were just so hilarious to watch, and teh way the show was constructed appealed to my travel instincts as well as my food instincts. Watching them ride around the English countryside on that motorcycle was delightful!

bookchick Oct 4th, 2005 02:08 PM

I recently read an item that stated Sandra Lee has inked a book deal, and now her hubby wants out of the marriage, so the book may end up as a "tell all".

Paula Deen's life story is pretty amazing. She was widowed, and started her first business, "The Bag Lady", out of her home. She had agoraphobia at the time, and her sons would deliver all the meal orders!

Tyler Florence---yes, yes, yes! Definite eye candy, though a tad young-looking for my tastes.

Although you may not like Emeril's show and/or recipes or "Emeril-isms", I must say I have met him, and he is a gentleman, and maintains a schedule that a drill sergeant would find fatiguing.

Buon Appetit!

Creflors, Giada came to the Williams Sonoma by where I live, and I was in the store when she came in from the back and started her demonstration. She walked right past me, within 2 feet. When you see her in person, you realize her head is not big. In fact, she is stunningly beautiful, and so tiny. The men could not stop staring at her.

kvick Oct 4th, 2005 02:12 PM

Ah, the two fat ladies-- RUM, SODOMY AND THE LASH!
I think it's the only time I've ever heard sodomy mentioned on a cooking show.

peeky Oct 4th, 2005 02:17 PM

The two ladies looked like they never bathed with their greasy hair falling over their faces. Batali looks the same way and sweaty too.

I do have to say that Rachael R. looks clean. There I said something nice about her.

Jocelyn_P Oct 4th, 2005 02:21 PM

Don't go bashing Mario now...he's the King of the Food Network as far as I'm concerned. ;) That man knows his stuff.

peeky Oct 4th, 2005 02:30 PM

Yes you are right I am sorry, but he should wash his apron once in a while.

suehoff Oct 4th, 2005 02:35 PM

I love Ina Garten and her cookbooks are a never miss for good food. Rachel is a little caffeinated for me and Giada-boy I wish I was that skinny-plus she has a million cute tops w/ corresponding necklaces...ahhhh..I believe that food never passes her lips though and that is why Ina is cool-food never passes her period!
That said I really miss Julia especially when she was cooking with Jacques. Now that was magic in the kitchen!

Madison Oct 4th, 2005 03:20 PM

I only watched 2 Fat Ladies one time and in that particular episode they went into the countryside and started shooting birds, can't remember if it was squab, duck. All I know is they came back with an armload of dead birds. I was horrified and could never watch them again.

Some years ago I met Emeril at a Book Faire at UCLA. He was so nice to everyone and a real cutie in person. He then had a cooking demonstration with Charlie Trotter and kept promoting Charlie's book and his cooking skills which I thought was very nice. You could see it was genuine on his part.
