Who did Paula Dean's makeup in Elizabethtown? A lot of sugar in ice tea is OK, but heavens! Mascara???

Madison Nov 8th, 2005 11:26 AM

Offlady - You asked who did Paula Deen's makeup in Elizabethtown. It was Don Rutherford II who also did Pirates of the Caribbean.

offlady Nov 8th, 2005 06:01 PM

Madison, that is too funny! No wonder I kept looking for that gold tooth in Paula's mouth.

Just saw this post -- too funny!

While RR does get on my nerves, she does have some good ideas for when I have little time in the kitchen. Also, someone posted a comment on her tipping on the $40/day show. I read in one of her books that she does tip, but doesn't include it in the show. Don't know why, since that is obviously part of one's budget...

I don't have a watch video link?! IS it me?

StCirq Nov 17th, 2005 12:14 PM

I've never seen a $40 a Day episode in which RR didn't tip - in fact, they always put a little receipt up on the screen that shows the items ordered plus the tip, and the total.

I wanna know why most of you people are hating on Rachael Ray, she's got money and a carreer and actually cooks...so what if it only takes 30 minutes and is simple, at least she cooks which is more than what most of you fast food/frozen food junkies could say!

Betsy Nov 22nd, 2005 08:46 PM

...and for all you RR fans out there, she's going to be on Oprah tomorrow.

Finally I had to open this thread to find out who the hell Rachel Ray is, and what interest her nuptials could possibly hold for so many posters. Now I know, along with much more trivia. I'll never complain about Australian TV again. Not for a few hours, anyway.

I couldn't sleep and stumbled upon this thread, which is absolutely hilarious.

A couple of comments:

I read the link about Sandra Lee's husband and recognized the name of the company he heads, KB homes. This is the KB homes that has renamed its company b/c they've been sued so many times for substandard housing. This came up in another thread on the US board. Apparently, they make the junkiest houses that are all identical to one another.

I've watched Lee's show several times and I agree that her "assets" are probably the only reason that she has a show. Something tells me that the network execs were trying to appeal to the male 18-34 demographic.

I like Rachel Ray's $40/a Day show, more to watch where she is visiting. However, my husband and I always joke about her paltry tips that are outrageous.

I read an article saying that she paid for all of her guests to come to her Italian wedding, which I thought was awesome. Her food doesn't really appeal to me, but I think she is doing a good thing in encouraging busy families, etc., to cook instead of buying Burger King.

I also read that RR is coming out with her own magazine, along the lines of Oprah's Magazine. It's going to be focused on food, travel, and other things that interest her. I think she may be risking saturating the market with Rachel Ray, though. I agree that she has earner her keep but I don't know if she has enough of a following to sustain a monthly magazine.

Her new husband is an entertainment lawyer but he doesn't work for a firm- his only job is being her attorney and overseeing her business activities and I'm sure he does the contract/negotiation work for all of these endeavors she's engaged in.

mah1980 Nov 27th, 2005 12:05 AM

Another thing- the ET piece said she got married in a Alicia Mughetti gown, but in another interview she said that she "picked out the cheapest Vera Wang in the store in 28 minutes." Maybe she wanted to continue the 30 minute theme to the wedding dress selection?

Thought I'd bring this old thread back up. I just watched the funniest episode of Sandra Lee's show!

She said she was making breakfast crepes and she used flour tortillas (like what you'd use to make burritos)!

And then her tablescape was so dumb looking.

But the best part- the theme of the show was breakfast food so she wore her pajamas the whole show.

At the end of the show she said she was going to put a face mask and deep conditioner in.

D*mn, I keep trying to catch her programs, not for the recipes - they sound awful - for the entertainment value.

Mah1980,
Friday she's preparing a semi-homemade wedding, I wonder what she'll wear :-D

mah1980 Jan 10th, 2006 02:21 PM

I don't really get to see them very often either.

I just can't believe that anyone would make her recipes. She uses the most disgusting ingredients.

It's like having a show with a "chef" making hamburger helper. What's the point of that? Anyone can make cheap and gross food.

alya Jan 10th, 2006 02:28 PM

LOL at the 'hamburger helper' comment.

I've made a note on my calendar to catch Fridays episode - it just sounds too funny to miss.

I bet she didn't use any of the recipes when she got married :-)

mah1980 Jan 10th, 2006 02:31 PM

i heard she is getting a divorce. maybe she's getting divorced because her husband can't take the gross stuff she cooks! lol

that was mean, but seriously, how did she get a show?

carolisle Nov 8th, 2006 12:39 PM

WOW! WHAT A BUNCH OF JEALOUS PEOPLE WITH TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS.
