Bonniebroad- they're called fake hoots! That's why Sandra Lee's arms are so skinny! You'd think she'd get a lift by now- they're down to her knees!

I'm with the consensus - the whole concept of this semi-homemade stuff is tacky. I have to admit I tune in for the laughs. Lately, Sandra has been donning costumes to match the "cuisine" she cooks. Her take on French bistro wear had me rolling. I keep waiting for her to don a sari and cook Indian.

What drives me crazy about Sandra is her "tablescapes" and the special cocktails (gag) that she is always inventing.

bonniebroad Oct 4th, 2005 01:06 PM

aschie30, you've lost me here, regarding Sandra Lee ... I agree those are "fake hoots" but what does that have to do with her skinny arms? :p

I don't consider her show to be about cooking, really .... Truly, she has to be married to somebody BIG in the business! :-(

Hahahahahaha..I thought I was the only one who noticed Sandra Lee's pencil like arms. I wince when she opens a jar-I keep expecting her wrists to break. And I cracked up when Paula Deen said she's going to make "bowled ham". At first I thought it was a recipe for some ham where you use a bowl. Btw, this thread is hilarious & really struck a chord with folks.

I am loving this thread!!!

I like RR and even have some of her cookbooks. She's goofy and that's okay. The only real thing that bothers me about her is the sound of her voice - too manly. Otherwise I think she has some great recipes. I hope she has a long and happy marriage.

But I have to say my all-time favorite is Ina - love, love, love her! Paula makes me smile, but I can feel my arteries clogging just watching her prepare her recipes, lol. :D

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 01:13 PM

Sandra Lee? Ha, don't get me started on that chickie...she's too colored coordinated for me, lol. Ever notice her window valance usually matches what she is wearing? And Bonnie, I think you are on to something there :D

StCirq Oct 4th, 2005 01:14 PM

Did anyone else see the show where Sandra was out in the garden wearing that Maid Marion outfit? I couldn't believe she could do the show with a straight face!

Or the barbecue one where she planted bales of hay in the driveway and borrowed a big red pickup truck and parked it there? Gee, there's a fun idea for a party!

aschie30 Oct 4th, 2005 01:16 PM

what I mean is that people with skinny arms like that don't have hoots that big! It's just not natural. That's why I've always taken note of her borderline-freakish arms. :S-

Definitely not a cook, that Sandra Lee. I've always thought she was a bored trophy wife. I wonder who her hubby is and what he does. Does anyone have any intel on that?

aschie30 Oct 4th, 2005 01:24 PM

st.cirq- I did see that episode for the barbeque! The theme was like "how to have a bbq in Hazzard County."

Ever see her take on making a cake? Buy an angel food cake at the store (which is already sickly sweet) and then pile on 2-3 tubs of store-bought frosting (preferably pink). Voila!

clairdelune Oct 4th, 2005 01:26 PM

I am curious---on the Sandra Lee item. Is this a thing that only women notice? I thought the exact thing: this woman's cans are way too big for those skinny arms. I also thought she must be married to some Food Network exec who promised her a show of her own. The kitchen set is so sickly pastel. Paula's kitchen is a bit too fussy. I like Ina's kitchen-it's large and plain; a place where you can do serious cooking.

bonniebroad Oct 4th, 2005 01:30 PM

A link to Sandra Lee's better half! He is REAL rich .... we knew it, didn't we? :-d

Well okay now...that explains both the show and the "cans", lol.

aschie30 Oct 4th, 2005 01:34 PM

And this is the guy that Sandra swears does the dishes? Yeah right!

Jocelyn_P Oct 4th, 2005 01:36 PM

Mystery solved!

mv_rd Oct 4th, 2005 01:36 PM

This thread is hilarious. I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one who wonders WHY Sandra Lee has a show. I remember the first time I saw her show, I was asking myself, is this real?
I have no doubt she is married to someone who runs the network or someone owed her a HUGE favor.

I have to agree with Ina Garten and Paula Deen. I love watching them although I won't use their recipes. It's hilarious to see Ina say, as she puts in a stick or two of butter, this is ok for "special" occasions. I wonder if everyday is a special occasion for her. I love her house though!

As for RR-I watched her at first and then she just got annoying. Most of the time we watch her to make fun of her. She does have some good tips but I wouldn't use her recipes either.

As for Giada, I have used many of her recipes although I can never get over how big her head is compared to her body. For a while I wondered if it was the angle of the camera or what,it does seem to be the case that her head is bigger than her body.

St Cirq, you can buy almost everything you see in Michael Chiarello's house at www.napastyle.com He was the founder of TraVigne in Napa Valley.

seetheworld Oct 4th, 2005 01:43 PM

Ina sometimes has a heavy hand with the butter, but many of her recipes are pure and simple (or I just reduce all the bad stuff, lol). I love her kitchen as well - very real.

clairdelune Oct 4th, 2005 01:43 PM

Anyone have anything to say about Tyler (forgot his last name)? who does How To Boil Water? I do: yummo!

bonniebroad Oct 4th, 2005 01:44 PM

I love Giada and her recipes, but she reminds me of a bobblehead doll!

I think every day is "special" for Ina! :D I cook like that very occasionally ... (like her & Paula) but not very often. Would not be *a good thing!* :-)
