The AIr Iceland website recommends allowing 2 1/2 hours between an international arriving flight and the domestic departing flight. Are the international and domestic flights at different airports or different terminals of the same airport?

My flight home departing Reykjavik leaves at 5:00pm. Will I have time to see Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall on the way from Vik to the airport?

I will be in Iceland September 1 - 9 and will be staying overnight in Reykjahlio, Seyolsfjorour, Skaftafell and Vik. Will I be able to find hotels offering rooms with bathrooms without having to book reservations in advance?

I now realize that the international and domesitc flights are at two airports rather than two terminals of the same airport.

How much time to you have on the way from Vik to the airport?

It's still a few weeks before the equinox so you'll have over 14hrs of daylight each day.

According to google maps it's 180km from Vik to Gullfoss, so if you leave Vik at sunrise by car you'd get to Gullfoss well before 9am.

That gives you a few hrs at the falls before needing to depart to the airport.

Thanks, J62! I'll save my marriage of 28 years by not requiring my wife to depart at sunrise to make that happen. We have seen geysers at Yellowstone and though we always enjoy seeing waterfalls, we will have to drive pretty much directly from Vik to the airport.

What is the quickest way to get from the Reykjavik international airport to the domestic airport? Perhaps book one of the services that advertises transfers from the international airport to hotels in the city? Is there a special shuttle between the two airports that I have not discovered on the Internet?
