Problems with the SEARCH function
Dear Everyone,

Has anyone else noticed that when you SEARCH for a topic, you may not find as many threads as you thought you might?

I have had lots of problems with this recently, searching for topics I KNOW I have seen on the Europe forum. So, I decided to perform a little test:

I found a thread that I had responded to earlier, entitled "Alconbury/London", and typed it into the SEARCH box, making sure it was spelled/typed in exactly as it was on the forum.

Well, guess what? The search came up negative!! Said the topic could not be found, even though I could hit the BACK button and look right at the sucker!!!! This false result has happened many many times, and I have ended up having to actually scroll through screen after screen to find the thread I wanted. And, despite taking quite a long time to do this, I have ALWAYS found the thread - even though the SEARCH function said it couldn't be found!!!- and it was ALWAYS spelled exactly as I had typed it into the box!!!

I have alerted Fodor's to this problem, though don't know if they'll do anything about it. Just wanted to let you all know, in case you are having the same silly and inconvenient problem!!

HI J.M.

yes, I am having the same prob and I am bummed - there was a great thread on London/British history "in a hurry" - good books, etc. I cannot find it. It is not that old either - less than a week. I typed in phrases I KNOW came up in it - NADA.

if anyone has found it, please "topper" it. (oh no! it's that topper again! ;-)

Beth

I have also been frustrated by the difficulty with the Forum's search function for the past few weeks.

I just tried something a few minutes ago. There have been two threads running for the past few days concerning Vivoli, the gelato shop in Florence. I just searched "Vivoli" and only ONE of those recent ones came up. Since both are recent threads, it seems as if both should have come up.

I know this doesn't solve anything, but maybe will shed some light on what is happening.
