Praiano's Hotel Tramonto D'Oro Questions
We are going to the Amalfi Coast in October. I am considering Hotel Tramonto D'Oro. Does anyone know if the hotel parking is near the hotel or if it is a great distance (I have read reviews with as many as 400 steps) to get to the hotel?
Any other suggestions for favorite hotels in the Praiano, Amalfi, Positano area for one who is not able to do many steps?

Hi Sandy,
I stayed at the hotel across the road from Tramonto d'Oro several years ago (da Fiori). The entrance to Tramonto d'Oro is at road level. However, the entire hotel (like everything else on the coast) cascades down the cliffs. Since it's such a nice hotel, I'm sure they have an elevator. Otherwise you would not be able to get to your room without doing LOTS of steps. I only saw parking for 2 or 3 right at the entrance. Parking valets then re-parked the cars somewhere else.
I'll be staying at Le Sirene in a couple of weeks, but it doesn't sound like this would be a hotel you would be interested in.
Buon viaggio!

Yes, that hotel is right on the street. Open Gate is right on the street too. The BEst Western is on the street in Positano, so is Villa Franca. There are alot of hotels in Amalfi that don't require steps.
Now there are alot of places right on the street in all the AC towns but you will have to walk the road to get to them.
Le Sirene is way below the street so there will be lots of steps going down.

We were at the Hotel Tramonto d'Oro in Praiano just 2 weeks ago. The hotel parking is immediately adjacent to the hotel, at street level.
We LOVED our stay at this charming, family-run hotel. I really cannot say enough good things about the kindness and helpfulness of the staff there. Also, the roof-top pool and spectacular room views were very easy to enjoy! The 400 steps that you have read about refer to the path down to the coastal swimming/bathing area.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. the hotel sounds very managable. I had to laugh as I read padbrashers reply. You are right, it was to the beach, not to the parking lot that involved 400 steps.
