Prague - Thoughts for a 1st Timer
We are taking a spur of the moment trip to Germany in 3 weeks and still undecided on the final destination. We are flying into Frankfurt and will have 4 full days. Our first thoughts were to relax in Rothenburg, with a day or two of side trips. We love this little town and thought it would be nice to visit again.

Our other thought is to visit Prague. We have heard it is a great city and should not be missed. What are your thoughts on the city. In addition, what areas to stay in, what to see, and is english somewhat spoken.

Thanks in advance for your help.....

Prague is nice and you don't have to worry about English being spoken in the main areas. Check nethotels.com and www.avetravel.cz for hotels/penzions and events while you are there.

Don't miss Prague, it's a wonderful city. We went last July, spoke English all the time and people were very helpful, always trying to help us. We stayed at Mala Strana, near the Castle and Charles Bridge. It is a beautiful part of the city and near almost all the atractions. We stayed at Dum U Cerveneho Iva Hotel, that is a excellent hotel, not very expensive (less than U$200), comfortable, clean and with big rooms. But in this area (Mala Strana) there are a lot of hotels. Try not to stay in a big hotel, because the small and old hotels have a lot more character, and are very charming.
Must sees: Charles Bridge, the Castle, the Old Town, the Astronomic Clock, the Jewish district, the squares, the old buildings with decorated facades, the churchs, the small streets, the cristal shops, etc, etc.
The city is very beautiful, romantic and worth every day that you could stay. If I am not mistake, try the site: www.praguehotels.com.

Have a wonderful trip!

Débora
