Positano

We will be travelling to positano from 22nd September to 6th October. What will the weather be like at this time of year. Am unsure what to pack. Also what would a taxi cost from Naples airport to Positano.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Noeleen, if you type Positano in the 'search 'it will bring up a lot of information previously answered on this board. You will probably find a lot of worthwhile info. Joyce

Hello Noeleen,

Weather in late Sept/early Oct is usually still warm. (I went in early November once and it was still warm enough for a swim!)

A taxi from Naples airport to Positano will be about 190.000 LIRE. It would be advisable to book in advance.

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve

Thank you for the replies. We are still
unsure if we will take a taxi or go with the train. How far is it from the airport to the train station, and when you reach Sorrento is there another bus other than the sita bus as that bus schedule does not fit in with ours. Would it be best to choose the taxi from Naples or is it easy enough doing it the other way.

Hello again Noeleen,

From Capodichino airport to Naples Central station is about a 20-minute bus ride, I think. Buses are very frequent.

SITA is the only bus company which operates the Sorrento-Positano route.
An alternative would be to catch the same bus from META, which may fit in better with your times, ( - but this involves a 200m walk to the bus stop.)

Or you could get a taxi from Sorrento.

If you decide to go by taxi from Naples I'd advise you to book it online beforehand to be sure of the fare. (Some taxis are not 'legit' and are happy to 'overcharge' unsuspecting tourists).

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve

Thanks Steve
We have more or less decided the taxi from the airport is the best way. I have been in touch with Marcello Maresca about a taxi as alot of people have recommended him. He is not available on the day we arrive but said he would send somone one else trustworthy for us. The owners of the apartment have also given us the number
of a driver whom also is recommended so we shall book one of them by the weekend.
The only thing now is to decide what to bring. What is the average temperatures late sept, early november as I do not want to have all the wrong clothes with me. Will I need a jacket at any time and will sandals suffice at that time of year. thanks again for your help.
Cheers Noeleen

Noeleen - you can still expect daytime temperatures well in the 70's. Have a good trip!

Steve
