Hi All--<BR><BR>I'm trying to plan my honeymoon and need some help. We don't want to spend our time touring around (since we mainly want to relax), but I don't want to go to a place like Hawaii because it's quite commerical. On the other hand, we don't want to go to a place like Bora Bora because the flight is a bit too long (we're coming from the NYC area). Does anyone have any suggestions? We would be going in Oct.

Bermuda?

Probably need to give us a little more to go on. Do you want to be on the beach, big city etc.. What country are you leaning towards etcc. What activities (other than the obvious) do you guys want to do?

Portugal. Bermuda is also an excellent suggestion, but I am not sure if hurricane season is over yet, or is it?<BR><BR>Of course, there are a ton of great places in North America worthy of your consideration also. Arizona, Mexico, the Carolinas, the list goes on and on.<BR><BR>You do mean THIS October? Likem in the next week or two? Hi Linda,<BR>How long do you plan to spend?<BR>Have you considered a cruise?<BR>Have you been to the Central or South American resorts?<BR>You are considering Italy. Don't try to see the whole country You can spend a leisurly week in Rome, or Florence, or Vanice, or the Amalfi coast, etc...

Which year? Two weeks, starting THIS October means that the trip is half in November.<BR><BR>There are no beaches that are nearly as good as those you can find in North America or the Caribbean, traveling so late in the fall.<BR>

Sound to me like Southern Spain

She MUST be talking about next October. Therefore, Linda, don't stress!<BR>If you want beaches and relaxation, Bermuda or Florida would be easiest from NYC.<BR>However, it sounds like you want something less "run of the mill," and since you have TWO weeks, Europe would be a good choice. I'd vote for Greece. You could tour and explore Athens, perhaps incldue a cruise with various island stops, and then have a whole week to lay on a beach - in Crete perhaps?!<BR>

Linda,<BR><BR>Italy can be as hectic or as laid back as you want. If you want slow pace (or "at your own pace") you might want to rent a villa in Tuscany for a week and do side trips to Florence or Siena and the other hilltop towns etcc. then maybe a week in Venice..the most romantic place on Earth. You will not be disappointed.

One of the most relaxing vacations I ever went on was to St. John's in the US Virgin Islands. You can take a plane to St. Thomas,and then its a short ferry ride to St. John. St. Thomas is very commercial- the cruise ships stop there, but you don't get any of that on St. John. There are lovely shops and restaurants on St. John, so there is definitely things to do- but you aren't jammed in with a bunch of other people. I do believe that October is still considered the 'off season' and you can get fantastic deals on hotel and airfare. Have a wonderful time and congrats on your wedding!!!

It is not fair to call all of Hawaii "commercial". Some of the islands or towns are still very authentic, peaceful and unspoiled. Just don't book an All-Inclusive package at a fancy chain resort.<BR><BR>But coming from East Coast USA, I would opt for somewhere in the Caribbean actually.<BR>

Linda, What about one of the 'classics' like Paris or Venice? Book a good hotel, sleep late, eat from room service, take long walks around the neighborhood, sit at sidewalk cafes... don't feel pressed to "tour around" at all. Just enjoy each other and the extremely romantic city you're in.
