Please, help (biking/hiking)???
Hello, again
Please, need your comment...
I am going to bike from Grutschalp and further to Allmendhubel. From there I am planning to bike my way to Schiltalp and Spielbodenalp to return to Muerren. The official biking path, the other way round, leads from Muerren to Spielbodenalp and Schiltalp. There is no official biking trail leading directly from Almendhubel to Schiltalp/Spiel-alp other than via Muerren. Direct way from Almend. to Schiltalp is a way to the Northface trail. I know that biking is not allowed on the hiking singletrails like part of the Northface trail is.
So, the question is can I hike on part of this trail with my bike rolled by me until it is allowed to bike (it is about 1,2 km., and the reason of that is because of the views)???
Thank you very much

Are you talking about the Northface trail as in the Alpligen to Eiger Glacier? Or the Northface trail in the Murren area.
Good luck with the Northface trail going up to the Eiger Glacier because it is a steady climb upward on a rocky trail. LOL
I think you must be talking about the Northface trail around Murren. lol On aprevious visit,I saw parts of that trail and it looked pretty decent. I did not see the entire thing so I can not comment on it too much.
I mountain bike to some degree, but to be honest I avoid the really technical trails. I am not that skiled. I do like a good uphill workout though.
The most challenging trail I ever did in Switzerland was the bike trail up around the first station going up from Wengen. When I got off the bike and started to walk uphill, I felt as though I had failed until I saw everyone else doing that also.
Have you written the tourists office and requested a mountain bike map? Thay wil send you one of those if you ask them.

You can contact them by e-mail. I know the questions you asked were not answered in detail the way you wanted them answered, but contact those offices for more detail and help.

Some of those biking trails are indeed quite challenging. I like a good workout and all, but I am not MR super biker by any means. I stay clear of those technical trails and stay on the ones that offer a good brisk workout.
I remember riding some pretty steep trails, but I admit that I had to get off the bike and walk partly up the hills. As I said, I saw others doing this as well. Hey, the trails can be strenuous.
Last year, I rode a bike around lake Thun. That was a ride that was fun and easy, but I'm guessing you are looking for some challenging rides. Good luck in that!!
I'm glad you contacted the tourist offices since they can give free maps of bike trails.
Some of the lift transports will let you take the bike up into the high mountains. Then once you have completed your high altitude ride, you can return the same way.
I know the trains do allow some bikes since this dude's bike once freed itself from it's resting place and came crashing down on my legs one trip. lol I laugh now but uh boy was I NOT laughing then.
Anyway, I wish I could post more information , but I have not biked all that much in this area. I have biked more in the Saas Fee area (an area I love btw).
