Plane or Train
I'll be flying into Rome and going on to Venice directly. I thought I would take a flight to save time until a client of mine told me about the beautiful scenery on the train ride from Rome to Venice. She also thought I might enjoy stretching out after the over night flight. Can anyone confirm the beautiful scenery on route to Venice?

Hate to contradict your friend, but the scenery is of no consequence on this route. The train ride is pleasant enough, but if you are starting AT the airport, then the flight will be 3-4 hours shorter then getting FROM the airport TO the train station and then taking the 4.5 hr train.

I assume that flying directly into Venice isn't/wasn't an option for you. I would take a(ny) reasonably priced flight in this situation.

Best wishes,

Rex
No single source for all withIN Europe air travel works best.

The new site www.orbitz.com shows $97 for Lufthansa, $114 for AirOne (even though it is a Lufthansa flight operated by AirOne - - bizarre).

www.europebyair.com shows $99 for the same flight (and shows it as AirOne)

www.travelocity.com shows $97.50 for the same flight, and (I guess) accurately describes it as a Lufthansa flight, operated by AirOne.

Orbitz and Travelocity also both show Alitalia flights, for about $40 more.
