Just posted my farewell to Scarlett and now I shall return to sorting through road maps of Italy for a Thursday departure.
Flying Toronto-Prague, staying 3 days, then Prague-Rome for 5 days then driving to Montepulciano for a week to stay in the Poggiolo apartment recommended by Patrick. Flying to Prague for 2 more days then home.
Current pre-occupation: snow expected in Prague, ergo: snow boots?? If so, how to ditch them in warmer Italy??

Well Bon Voyage tedgale too !!
sounds like a Fab trip you two have planned, Italy after Prague will be wonderful.
How much snow- are boots necessary? or can you get away with clunky shoes?
Or do what I am doing for our week in Paris- take boots and shoes and just pack em!

I didn't think the snow ever lasts very long. Then I was surprised to see that the temperature later this week is going to be minus 7 centigrade -- that means snow will not melt.
I do have an old pair of boots I could take along, then ditch. But in an m-kingdom2 moment I recoiled at bad footwear -- as you might, too, come to think of it.
Oh whatever. I'll figure something out. We're fortunate, if foreign weather is the biggest of our problems in life!

Oh tedgale, as long as you are not caught in blue jeans with a black top (you know, that "banding" problem) don't worry about the fashion statement.
Actually if you have some old boots that are comfy, why not pack them and then toss them when you no longer need them? You might be glad to have them with you.

Oh honey, you do know how I think!
What if a French bus hit me as I was crossing the Blvd St Germain, as the people all gather around to see if I am alive, they will be remarking on what wonderful shoes I am wearing! and Mama will be glad I wore only my best lingerie

Hubby and I are leaving in 15 days... This is our first time in Europe and I'm worried about cold and snowy weather(?) plus rain between March 16 -April 11... I hope we can still do tour on foot with no problems.
Bon Voyage to those going ahead and have a safe trip!

Oh Parisnow, I just read your post (and of course the thread is titled for you duh!) I sure hope your plane is not delayed. Hopefully the weather will be cleared up. I did hear on our news tonight that most airlines are allowing a change of ticket date, no charge, if the flight is delayed or cancelled. But hopefully all will be alright for your flight.
You too have a beautiful trip! As I said, it seems like everyone will be in France. Happy travels.

Yes, it sounds a little cold in Europe. And maybe I have an incorrect "slant" on things, but to me, Cold while visiting Europe is still MUCH BETTER than the cold and slush in Delaware... <GRIN>
Good luck y'all...happy trails!
