Paris/Brussels Train Help Needed, Please!
Hello, here I am again! Having difficulty since day one trying to put the train part of our trip together. Evidently, we can't book a train from CDG to Brussels through Raileurope, can book from Paris Nord and we must have a reservation (whew!) Need to book tonight or tomorrow for sure. There is a TGV leaving the airport, but I can't find out where to book it. Do I call Paris directly? 1-877-rail can only book the Thalys train. On the other hand, I recall a post(s) that Air France runs a bus to the city; does it stop at Paris Nord? If so, how long is the ride so I can guestimate the train to book. As you can see, I obviously am unfamiliar with train travel, and can use whatever help is out there. I beginning to feel stressed!! Oh my! Deep depression, heavy sigh! Merci.
.

Hi Kathy:

Don't Fret. Call your local AAA Travel Agency or DER Travel Services - 888-337-7350 Phone. I bought my rail pass through them and made reservations that way. I think they may be able to assist you. Otherwise, as soon as you get to Paris, make a reservation at a train station if you are there a couple days before traveling. It will be cheaper and besure to ask for 2nd class. For that short of trip, it doesn't really matter. The Thayls trains are luxiourious.

Kathy, the service from Paris to Brussels is on Thalys, which runs from Gare du Nord to Brussels just about non stop. The Thalys train does not have a station at CDG; you have to take the RER to Gare du Nord and connect. Service is about every two hours.

My experience using Thalys last November was that the added expense of Raileurope was unneccessary. I made my booking with Thalys at the train station (Amsterdam in this case) and had no trouble securng seats.
There IS Thalys service from CDG to Brussels. We couldn't get on our flight home from Paris in early Jan. (flying standby), and easily purchased the tickets to Brussels right at the airport for the next train (they are frequent) so we could get home from there. The ticket price includes a reserved seat, and you should be able to buy it easily after you get to France.
