GERARD MANLEY HOPKINS
SPRING AND FALL to a young child Márgarét, áre you gríeving Over Goldengrove unleaving? Leáves like the things of man, you With your fresh thoughts care for, can you? Ah! ás the heart grows older It will come to such sights colder By and by, nor spare a sigh* Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie; And yet you wíll weep and know why. Now no matter, child, the name: Sórrow’s spríngs áre the same. Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed What heart heard of, ghost guessed: It ís the blight man was born for, It is Margaret you mourn for. ⏳ |
Many condolences to his family. We had a couple of discussions about his love of Blackpool, but always good natured.
Oh no... I don't visit this forum as often as before but when I did today, this sad news. As many have commented, he did seem to be a good natured man. RIP.
Sorry to hear about Pal. I wish to extend my condolences to his family.
Désolée to hear that! I always thought I would meet Pal someday and show him my town. I'll miss his French mistakes...*
Thank you Thin for quoting GMH for us. A beautiful tribute.
Coco - we are all désolée too, |
This is very sad news. I kept expecting him to show up on Thin's thread in the Lounge and tell us he was perfectly fine, but sadly that was not the case. :(
I, too, got a big kick out of his "spoilers" on the Jeopardy James Holzhauer thread. Rest in peace, Pal, you will be missed. |
Such sad, sad, news! I have enjoyed him and his irascible responses when no-nothings gave inaccurate information, particularly when it clashed with his own strongly held views. His loss is our loss, as well as that of his family. He will be missed.
He'd call me Madame Lost, and like other posts, simultaneously annoying & endearing.
My sympathies to his friends and family.
My condolences, also, to his family and friends.
Those that may have missed this thread and still want to say something to PalenQ's family.
We continue to add to his thread in the Lounge ((F)) ((L)) and :`( |
I still love you Thin .
PalenQ is very much missed, He started a lot of threads and gave us all reason to debate and or to accept his view point. He loved giving information about trains schedules in Europe. He also liked opening up some political threads, it is too bad that some had to give in appropriate replies, but in spite of their disagreement they loved him. To PaleQq's family, I can speak for many in saying he was very much loved and he is missed, right now the Lounge thread just does not seem the same without him. (({))((})) You brought us all :sunny: and you left a lot of ((u)) behind. God Bless. |
Well stated, Percy. Pal kept things from becoming dull, dull, dull, around here. I liked the quizzes he came up with.
Oh Trophywife007, those quizzes were interesting and many of us participated.. We all had fun and we all learned something.
One more thing to miss about PalenQ ((L)) |
Rex, sad as I am about Pal's passing, I am happy to know you are still with us. Both of you helped me out when I was new to the board ages and ages ago under a different sign-in.

So sorry to find this news. He was so helpful.
I missed this thread the first time around - very sad to hear this news, sending condolences to Pal's family.
I am just seeing this! Thank you Percy. My condolences to Pal’s loved ones and those who learned much from his posts and gained something from his opinions.
