Dear Scarlett: My husband and I are leaving in 3 weeks for a relaxing week in ParisPerfect's Cabernet apartment. Didn't I remember reading that you recently stayed in Pomerol? We'd appreciate any info. on the neighborhood and its restaurants, the PP staff, as well as any helpful hints you might have about our favorite city. Is there a restaurant that we just shouldn't miss? We've put a lot of thought into planning this trip, but in the end we've decided to just let each day evolve - and you know how prepared one has to be for spontaneity! Merci beaucoup!

How exciting! The weather will be good and certainly warmer than when we were there. Yes, it was the Pomerol.

But as far as the PP staff..Monica is the girl who greeted us, she was lovely, took lots of time showing us everything in the apt, how to run the clothes washer, the coffee maker ( I want one of my own) and the keys. The keys are a big deal because of the expense of the door, the locks and the keys. Do not lose them! Do not get yourself locked out! I was paranoid the entire trip about those damn keys LOL
Caroline will be the lady who answers questions and will come to the apt and fix anything that needs fixing. Our heat got funny, she came over twice and re-programmed the thermostat. She is very friendly and helpful ( she is an American friend of the owners and lives nearby)
rue Exposition is where the World Cafe Internet Cafe is. Also one of our restaurants. Cafe Constant and Thomieux are practically around the corner..

As I am sure Scarlett would agree, I recommend you take your favorite toilet paper and if you have any left over, the next renter will certainly appreciate it. Also, our refrigerator had an ugly smell (think it was from someone's cheese). I will take a box of baking soda with me on my next visit. I have seen the apartment you are staying in and it is very nice. It was on the same floor as the apartment I rented. Have a great trip.

Hi, yes, it was very positive!

Elsiejune, We stayed in Cabernet last summer. It was a great apartment. Great location with many great resturants within a block. The bus stop was directly across the street at Champs d Mars, so convienent. The balcony was wonderful, tiny but room for 2, and a bottle of wine of course!PP staff was very helpful. Caroline met us on arrival and was very helpful with resturants, store advise. Much information available in the apartment for reading. If you have kids, they had a good selection of videos/DVD to keep the kids quiet after a day of touring. My husband and I walked to Rue Cler several mornings to get baguettes, brie etc for breakfast. There in a very, very high quality frozen food store 3 blocks from the apartment,called Pickards which was fun for a relaxing stay at home meal. Great soup there. On Sunday mornings Rue Cler has awesome prepared foods,as good as any resturant. We went back a few days later for more duck, only to find out this is only available on Sundays. too bad!! Try the cheese shop on Rue Cler, I have never found Brie as good as we found in Paris.
The apartment itself had one small master bed room. The living room had a day bed which separated into two good sized single beds. The washing machine was well used, although it is a combo washer/dryer--it didn't dry very well. The apartment had a wooden clother rack which I hung most of the clothes on to finish drying. If you have any questions specific to Cabernet, let me know.

Marbie: Thanks for these details about Cabernet and the neighborhood. Knowing that a bus stop is so near, we're planning to use that as our primary mode of transport (once the feet give out). Is the bus system as cryptic as fodorites make it out to be? We'll be novices to the Paris bus system, so any advice would be appreciated. The apartment itself does look wonderful. We stayed at a very lovely place in the 6e two years ago (same slow washer/dryer combo), but have opted for a new neighborhood, balcony, and that view! I just can't wait. Thanks for your help.

Watch the bus times. We ended up waiting one evening for a bus which never showed up. Eventually, took the subway. Some busses stop after certain hours. Otherwise, we found bus very convienent, and more readily available then the metro, for where we were staying.
