Overnight on Stromboli

Hi,

We are taking the ferry from Naples and hope to overnight on Stromboli. Does anyone have lodging suggestions on the island. We also would like to climb the volcano; would anyone have information on doing that, and suggestions on what else we might do while we are there. We arrive 5AM and depart 9:30 AM the next day.
Thanks, AndrewDavid

DO IT! Stromboli is such a cool island.

We stayed at HOTEL MIRAMARE (double for 75 euros per night) in May 2004. Maybe the price has risen since then. Don't have their e-mail address on me, but you can GOOGLE them for sure.

Best hotel deal for a place right next to the beach -- we had a view of Strombolicchio from our room. THe owner/hostess was not really charming -- very business-like, but for that deal, we were willing to put up with it. Clean rooms. Basic continental breakfast. Ask for a room with a view.

It's not a big island. If you walk to the town centre, for sure you will find a tour guide office arranging hikes up Stromboli. Also, on certain nights, you can watch the lava flows from a boat right on the water -- a haunting experience.

PUNTA LENA was a great place to eat. Super-fresh seafood. Also by the water.

You can read my trip report by typing "Betty's Consolidated Sicily Trip Report" in to the search box. I wrote a section on Stromboli.

Bring good hiking shoes and a great camera!

Dear Betty, Now that I have my ferry tickets in hand, I''ve tried a google for Hotel Miramare on Stomboli and can't find a direct link. If you have one could you post.
Thanks,
AndrewDavid

We climbed Stromboli about 6 years ago and it was one of the most fantastic experiences I've ever had. We were recommended to go with a guide, and according to this recent article, this is now a 'must', and they suggest that you might want to pre-book.

I would thoroughly recommend it!

Dude, I am soooooooo jealous!

Zingaro is an amazing place, not to mention all the other places you're going to.

Great restuarant at Palermo: Cin-Cin -- Everything is good.

Great restaurant in Stromboli: Punta Lena -- Had a fine seafood pasta, and anything the fishermen bring in that day should be good.

Erice: Hotel Ermione had very fair prices and GREAT views of Trapani, etc., from some of the rooms. Ask for a view.

Driving in Sicily was easy and smooth. We rarely encountered any tolls except when entering TAORMINA (of couse).

Have a blast!

What was the name of the agriturismo near Randazzo? How did you like it? etc, etc.

Just moved here and would love to find some gems.

Thanks.
