I've done my homework (of course) but if you could give me one final piece of advice what would it be?

To take time to truly enjoy the city instead of just hopping from one big site to another. I love love love Rome, but to give it justice you need to take time out to just enjoy your surroundings. Wander the streets, sit in lots of cafes, duck into interesting churches (even if they are not in your guidebooks) and marvel at the beautiful architecture. I think those that adhere to a strict itinerary end up exhausted and not liking Rome to much, so my advice would be to take time to appreciate it!

Eat gelati twice a day if possible....try as many flavors as you can...it's heavenly.

Keep a sense of humour...look people in the eye and smile (it is universal).

Be willing to deviate from any strict "in-city" itineraries and if you do, consider it to have been as worthwhile as all you planned to see.
