Obtaining of Irish Whiskey in Italy?

If I wanted to obtain a small or regular-sized bottle of say, Jamieson's or Bushmill's Irish whiskey in Rome or Florence, would it be (a) available, and (b) SUBSTANTIALLY higher-priced than what one would pay here in the good ol' U.S. of A (or the regular price where YOU live)?

Oh yes, you can get a bottle of Bushmills in Rome. I have done it myself. I forget the place, but it was a fairly large wine/liquor store near or on the Via Veneto. I also saw it in one of the major department stores (while the wife was shopping for shoes - I was looking for something more interesting!) The price was steeper than in Canada, but not enough to prevent you from making the purchase. Most bars in the good hotels serve a couple of different whiskeys too. Hotel Eden's bar even had Greenspot.

Hi mb,

I think you would do better buying it at the duty free shop of your departure airport.

but if you run out of your duty free supply - my experience has been that grocery stores in Tuscany that stock liquor have Irish and/or Scotch whiskey. And the price wasn't overwhelmingly bad.

THANKS guys. If truth be told my only real purpose -- because I normally don't like coffee per se yet don't want to miss out on the great espresso's cappuccinos and lattes in Italy -- is to simply spike some Italian coffee and make an Irish coffee or two or three while the wife has the great Italian coffee. Ha - Last time I went 4 years ago I just sat across from somebody exclaiming "Mmmmmm, this is DELICIOUS.., etc."
