Normandy - Upper and/or Lower?

For some reason there is a gremlin in this site and none of my other posts seem to have made it so here we go again! Looking to spend six days in Normandy and the big question is where to stay so we're not driving long distances each day. Thinking around Bayeux for a few days and then
Rouen for the next few before heading home from Paris. Any suggestions most welcome with many thanks!

I just popped to the top the question you asked me last night - - and I answered it late last night.

No gremlins at work - - just a very high scroll rate on this board.

On the way back from Rouen, be sure to stop at Les Andelys to see Chateau Gaillard - a magnificent ruuied castle built by Richard the Lionhearted

I agree with the previous poster: stop at Les Andelys and the Chateau Gaillard. The view is wonderful; you can understand why Richard the Lionhearted built this fortress. In addition to all the usual sights in Normandy, I would also recommend the new WWII museum in Caen. It does an excellent job of presenting the French experience during WWII and the involvement of the Allies, as well as the story of the Invasion.

and if you go see Les Andelys, you must stop at Giverny - 7 or so miles away. MOnet's home for the last 40 years of his life... gorgeous gardens. you will then be about 60 miles from Paris..

Beth

DO NOT miss Mt. St. Michel, nor the beautiful seaside town of Deauville and Trouville. Both of these towns are exquisite, with Deauville a bit more expensive than Trouville. Strongly recommend you make these required stops on your itinerary.

What month are you going?

Thanks folks for the suggestions. I'm having trouble finding my other posts and when I type in "Normandy" under text search this one didn't come up either. I found it under "France" instead. Oh well, going in August and have made a note of all the responses which are much appreciated. Thanks again!
