Normandy Beaches
We'll be travelling to France in mid-April. Planing on a day trip to Normandy and the DDAY beaches. Should we take a train to the region, and take a tour from Bayeux? Or should we just take a guided trip of the area direct from Paris? We'll be using the Europass if we use the train option.
Responses are always appreciated.

I have heard that you can do the D-Day trip from Paris (leave at 7am return at 8pm type of thing).
If you are seriously interested, then that area deserves more than just one day.
Bayeaux is the best city/town for D-Day tourism. You can do it without a car although bus service in the area is said to be infrequent.
My question is whether you might in Bayeaux for days or just hours?

Hi Fritz7:
If you only want to do a DDay tour my suggestion would be the 710am train from Gare StLazare that arrives in Caen for 9am. You can now do a full day tour or visit the Caen Peace Musuem and do one of their 1/2 day tours, then return to Paris in the evening.
If your travel in France allows you more time in Normandy, than still train out, stay at least 1 night and return to Paris the next afternoon or evening.
Type "Normandy DDay tours" in the search box and you will get plenty of information to get you started.
We'll be there in May.
Best Wishes, Happy travels.

i have booked the 1/2 day tour and admission to the Caen Museum that Di mentions in the previous post. We are going at the end of April. I did a lot of research based on postings here and found that this tour worked best for us since we were not planning on staying overnight in Normandy. Many of the tours start earlier than the earliest train from Paris would get us in. It will be a long day but I hope worth it.
