Normandy battlefields

What town is the most interesting to stay in for several days to use as a base to see Normandy and the battlefields? Are there any especially interesting small villages?

We stayed in Bayeaux which was very quaint and nice. Arromanches is also convenient and on the coast.

Honfleur is a nice town right on the coast. It is north of the landing beaches and not as centrally located as Bayeux, but it is a quaint sea village.

Trouville and Deauville, seaside towns are very charming, but truth is all the above recommendations would make a great starting point. Honfleur and Arromanches are the most popular starting points and offer a good price range for accomodations.
